Bruce Hart revealed in an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Channel that he is planning on restarting Stampede Wrestling. In the article, Hart says that he wants to create a promotion that is more focused on athletics than promos. He added that he was calling wrestlers to appear for the promotion. There is no word if any TV deal has been reached.

Bruce has been trying to bring back Stampede for a while now. The promotion was founded by Stu Hart in the '40s and was eventually sold to the WWF in the '80s, paving the way for many of the top talent such as Bret Hart and the British Bulldgos to come into the WWF. The promotion re-opened later before shutting down again in 1989. WWE purchased the Stampede video library six years ago.

To read the interview, you can click here.

Hm, pretty interesting. So I'm guessing WWE just purchased the library and didn't copyright the name or anything of that sorts?

Its a tough market right now to start Stampede back up but if they can get a decent roster together and a Television deal then it could serve a purpose. Also getting the Hitman to appear on a few shows would't hurt.

I'm sure Bret would appear a few times if Bruce asked. I think this would be pretty successful locally, at least once it first started, then of course it'd depends on how the fans like it.

When did the company actually go down? I know Stampede Wrestling has always had hiatuses but they always come back. I just downloaded a show a couple months ago that had Finlay v.s DH Smith for example.

I don't know why they keep trying to review things like this. Yes the Hart's have name value and they could mainevent every show with Harry Smith vs. Teddy Hart with special guest referee Bret Hart but I just can't see it working for them. It is a tough time to try to get something like this going again.

It's being started by Bruce, he can't do anything right.

And as for a Hitman appearance? Likely as him taking a chairshot to the head.

Troy, there was a lot of good talent they used on the show I downloaded. I don't see a weekly TV show working but them doing sporadic events with rising Canadian wrestlers I think it can still be successful.

^How old was that show because this report says that he hasn't restarted the promotion yet. I am sure there are some talented indy wrestlers in Canada I just don't see the point in trying to revive this old federation again and again.

It was from last year, I think he just organized the one show but still hasn't fully restarted the promotion, he's been trying to for awhile I believe.

- As noted earlier, Bruce Hart recently told the Canadian Broadcasting Channel that he's looking to relaunch Stampede Wrestling this November. Bret Hart commented on the revival of the organization on his Twitter, writing, "For those asking or wondering, I just want 2 clarify that I'm in no way, shape, or form affiliated w/the so-called new Stampede Wrestling... And I know my father would be embarrassed to be associated with it too"

Well, now we know how Bret feels about this haha.

That was pretty obvious if you read his book. He is not a fan of Bruce trying to use his Dad's name for cash.

Strange attitude in a way since you run a wrestling promotion in the hope of making money I mean that is what Stu did it for and whose to say that Bruce is not partly doing it as a tribute?
