This I agree with. If they go longer than 5inutes it turns into a ballad for something and then switches over to an opera and just keeps going on.

Metal is one of the genres - where length is a vital part of the storytelling of a song. And often the album.

On the other hand, not everyone sets out to tell a story with their songs. Sometimes it's just about a vibe. Lotta hardcore songs that are barely over a minute long and do their job just fine. Personally I don't really have any hard and fast rules when it comes to music. I can love any variety of songs with all different types of attributes. Just depends how it hits me.
