Rey Mysterio vs. Roman Reigns is the Hell in a Cell direction for the Universal title.
Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Reigns defending against Mysterio is the direction for WWE’s next pay-per-view event, which takes place on June 20. This follows an angle on Friday’s SmackDown where Reigns attacked Mysterio and his son, Dominik, preventing The Usos from losing a second match against the father and son team.
After defeating Cesaro at WrestleMania Backlash, Reigns has mainly focused on the family drama between himself, Jey Uso, and the returning Jimmy Uso. On SmackDown, The Usos had lost a SmackDown Tag Team title match against the Mysterios after the referee had counted to three, even though Jimmy’s shoulder was up. This led to a rematch at the end of the show, where Roman attacked Rey and Dominik to prevent another Usos loss.
Other matches announced for Hell in a Cell are Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, Bianca Belair vs. Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s title, and Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte for the Raw Women’s title. Additionally, a tag team battle royal will take place on Raw where the winning team will face AJ Styles and Omos for the Raw Tag Team titles at the pay-per-view.
