n the WWE, the term “spring cleaning” doesn’t refer to a couple of janitors coming around with a mop, some Ajax and a can of Lemon Pledge.

Instead, it refers to the period at or around WrestleMania time when company officials are looking to cut costs and do so by releasing wrestlers on the lower end of the card.

And the WWE’s enhancement workers and rarely used performers might want to start hiding because the company’s 2012 spring cleaning could be right around the corner.

WWE officials have talked lately of cutting and/or repackaging bottom level WWE Superstars and developmental talent. However, moves are not expected until after WrestleMania as it is their prime focus.

The WWE’s spring firing period has become a staple of the company, and it’s more a matter of which superstars will get the ax, not if any superstars will wind up being “future endeavored.”

It’s an unfortunate situation for the WWE’s talent, but it’s a necessary evil of the pro wrestling business. Superstars come and go all the time, and—although some may disagree—I think the WWE has to do some maintenance once a year.

If a certain superstar isn’t performing well or is way at the bottom of the card (and it’s not going to change anytime soon), then it’s time to move on, send that guy packing and bring in some new talent to replace him.

The bad thing about the WWE, however, is that the company often is of the mentality that if “creative has nothing for you,” then it’s time for you to go. This often leads to the WWE releasing extremely talented guys and gals who never really got the chance that they deserved.

We know spring cleaning is coming sooner or later. We just hope that superstars who could really help the WWE don’t get chopped off the block.

Budget cuts??? McMahon is a rich bitch... How can he not afford to "pay" superstars? Lame.

They do have spring cleaning, but they always get rid of the best and keep the worst... Like Khali, Show, Mahal, that other dude from India...

They need to bring back 1 big star for every 2 they drop..

Zeke's getting a semi-push right now and he's over with the fans. He's Teddy Long's pick for SmackDown against Laurenitus. He is losing but, hey Teddy picked him.

There are 6 or 7 guys that are over, so that's not really the best way to try and judge who will be getting cut
