Raw preview, June 27, 2016: 'The Dude' doesn't abide

Seth Rollins evaded Dirty Deeds Thursday night on SmackDown, but he likely won’t be as lucky when he crosses paths with WWE Champion Dean Ambrose at Raw. Will The Lunatic Fringe get his hands on The Architect, three weeks before they collide in WWE Battleground’s anticipated Triple Threat Match?

1. Could Ambrose’s instability work in his favor as champion?

Dean Ambrose’s head is on a swivel even in his sleep — chaos is kind of his thing. It’s that constant readiness that makes The Lunatic Fringe the ideal Superstar to hold the WWE in The New Era, when every Superstar is out to make a name for himself (or herself).

As the entire roster hungrily eyes the grandest prize in sports-entertainment, the two men first in line to challenge “The Dude” are Ambrose’s former Shield “brothers,” Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The three onetime Hounds of Justice will collide at WWE Battleground in a Triple Threat Match, a tumultuous bout befitting Ambrose’s unorthodox worldview.

On SmackDown, Rollins attempted to ambush the wily titleholder and nearly wound up getting hit with Dirty Deeds—the same move that shortened The Architect’s title reign to just two minutes at WWE Money in the Bank. The Architect will need to draw up some new blueprints if he hopes to catch Ambrose off-guard this Monday night.

2. Will John Cena need backup against The Club?

Even though John Cena was able to attain a measure of retribution against The Club when he battled and nearly pinned Karl Anderson last Monday night on Raw, the Cenation leader once again succumbed to the numbers game when he fell victim to a three-on-one beatdown that culminated in a sadistic Styles Clash, courtesy of AJ Styles.

The Club’s unique definition of a “fair fight” was again on display Thursday night on SmackDown, when Anderson and Luke Gallows assaulted Jey Uso, distracting Jimmy Uso long enough for The Phenomenal One to score a cheap victory over the Samoan warrior in their one-on-one match.

It’s clear that anyone who attempts to take on one member of The Club is essentially facing all three of its members at once. Perhaps Cena should call in some reinforcements to help him level the playing field.

3. Is Sasha Banks our next WWE Women's Champion?

The Boss is back! Twice now, the returning Sasha Banks has forced a retreat from WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte who, in spite of her usual arrogance, seems visibly concerned whenever her former Team PCB ally hits the scene. On SmackDown, Sasha locked Charlotte’s pal Dana Brooke in the Bank Statement, sending a message to the second-generation Superstar that she could be next.

Will Sasha continue to keep Charlotte on the run? If so, what does that say about the WWE Women’s Champion’s chances if and when the two meet for the title?

4. Will The Wyatt Family put The New Day’s “Power of Positivity” to the test?

It takes a lot to make The New Day nervous, but the WWE Tag Team Champions look like they’re staring down ghosts whenever they lock eyes with the returning Wyatt Family.

After Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods interrupted the eerie return of The Eater of Worlds and his flock last Monday night, The New Day are in the unenviable position of being Wyatt’s latest obsession. Will The New Face of Fear ensure that “New Day falls” in the near future?

5. Who will gain key momentum three weeks before the WWE Brand Extension Draft?
20160620_raw_vid_draft--4ff7ac7b2dad6e27e9c6b7658ef20325.jpg

After the WWE Brand Extension Draft was announced last Monday, the entire roster is buzzing about whether they’ll be chosen for Raw or SmackDown when the blue brand goes live on Tuesday, July 19. That anticipation will no doubt light a fire among veterans and New Era Superstars alike to raise their level of competition and curry favor with the General Managers of both brands — whomever they might be.

Will we see Apollo Crews get some retribution after Sheamus defeated him on SmackDown? Might Becky Lynch bounce back from her defeat to Dana Brooke Thursday night? Who will Enzo Amore & Big Cass aim their Rocket Launcher (and verbal jabs) at next? Expect everyone to up their game even more on Monday night.

Don’t miss Raw at 8/7 C on USA Network, and be sure to tune in to Raw Pre-Show at 7:30 ET, only on the award-winning WWE Network.
