I thought it was a solid first PPV. Nothing really blew me away. But the matches were worked well and the production quality was good. I think its silly that people are putting AEW over like its gonna be a serious challenge to WWE. I think that they will be on more of a competitive level with like Ring of Honor.

Gotta go 8/10.

First wrestling show I've watched in maybe two and a half years, and I enjoyed it. Good matches, good presentation, was happy to see my girl Awesome Kong back in a ring again, that special appearance at the end of the show, I had no complaints.

Personally I don't think they should worry about trying to compete with WWE. Look at TNA, they tried and failed miserably. Focus on doing their own thing and let it grow organically. Maybe it'll get to that level on its own.

Even if it is silly, i think compareing them to Ring of Honor is kinda underselling just how great they have done, the production quality was definately on par with WWE and the matches were definately better atleast to me. Obviously with things like these different people like different things. But even so i think they did an incredible job, it amazes me that there are people who say this PPV was bad, i cant tell if they are trolling, or if they are genuinely serious, to each their own i suppose.

Well luckily for them they said many times they arent trying to compete with WWE, they are simply a alternative, which is the best way to go about it.

From what I've seen of Ring of Honor recently, it seems like they have a decent wrestling promotion. I'm not a regular viewer, but AEW seems way more like ROH than it does WWE, in almost every aspect.

Sooo.. AEW says they are only an alternative to WWE.. yet they have Cody smash a HHH look alike throne with a sledgehammer.. They have Jim Ross and Earl Hebner.. the best announcer in wrestling history and the best referee in wrestling history, both most well known for their time in the WWE.. They bring back blood, attitude, and pyro. Jericho main eventing... and Moxley aka Ambrose closing out the show...

Ummm.. yeah, they are attempting to compete with WWE and WWE should pay attention.. because, I tell you what, the current WWE roster is paying attention.

This could get interesting.

Anyway.. from the highlight clips I've seen and the articles I've read thus far I'll give this an 8/10.

I'll watch the full show later today after I sleep.

That was what I've been waiting for. Since I started with wwe again in 2015 after years and years away, I really started to lose interest again the last 2 years (guess it didn't take too long). Like I wanted to like it...but it got harder and harder to justify sacrificing hours each week for it...

But this AEW thing right here, brings back an old feel from growing up in the 90s. Its different. Its wrestling refreshed.

I gave a 10 because I was blown away with so much during this show. Other than the last 2 manias and the actual royal rumble itself I haven't paid much mind to wwe.

That ending was incredible. Woke my daughter up with a "wtf.. dean Ambrose?!" Forgot he left wwe so it was a shock for sure to me.

I dont get the people trying to downplay this thing. Its here, its giving adults what we want. And it seems like now or never Vince better give up the throne.

Admittedly the first half was pretty boring, but the second half was absolute fire. Rhodes v Rhodes is a MotY canidate, and one of then is 50. That's absolutely amazing
Fun facts on that, Dustin got busted open by Brandi hitting him with a cane, not a blade, and that Cody promo after asking him to stay was a complete shoot, according to Dustin at least
Lucha Bros v Young Bucks was also fore in a different way. Rhodes v Rhodes had you emotionally invested, while this was just a really fun match in general.
Omega v Jericho was really good, but it wasn't amazing on the same level as the other two. Didn't kill it emotionally, didn't kill it technically, but it was a really solid match all around
Other than that, Awesome Kong and Moxley debuting is amazing, Bret Hart showing up was badass, ect.
The first half was pretty boring though, so all around I have to give it a 7/10. Also, two specific things really annoyed me. One was Kylie's selling when Brandi came out. She's essentially getting screwed by authority here with an unexpected addition, and she's reacting by smiling and laughing and waving like an idiot. I get it, it's her gimmick, but time and place. The other point is that the camera work was god awful. There were countless missed spots during the battle royal, and they completely missed showing the world title. It was ludicrously bad. Missing the title and only showing shots from the side is like missing AJ Styles's debut but worse.

Overall, really excited for AEW

I don't think any of us expected this to fail. It's almost like this was doomed to succeed. I'm personally more interested in what they're gonna do on a weekly basis but they seem to be off to a great start with this. Even though I'm not much of a Cody mark, I really enjoyed his match with Dustin (except for that throne thing at the start, that was super corny).
The rest was also cool, Awesome Kong coming out was a pleasant surprise and Moxley attacking everyone after the main event was great. Now let's just hope that he can grow out of this safe style that he adopted in recent years, because that's probably not gonna cut it here.

I also find it hilarious how Jericho was talking shit about a ripped 41 year old Brock winning MITB even though he just got to go over one of the most talented wrestlers in his prime, at the tender age of 48 with a full-blown dad bod. Yea alright Christopher
