BLOCK A & BLOCK B SECOND ROUND MATCHES

The third night of the PPW World Championship G1 Climax tournament opened with the beginning of the second round of Block A and Block B matches.

Chris Jericho took on Moose in the opening match which saw the latter get the win after fourteen minutes. Moose hit Lights Out aka a Spear to get the pinfall.

Next KENTA went one on one with Sanada and the two men went back and forth for sixteen minutes. In the end KENTA picked up his second straight
win in the tournament once again thanks to the GTS.

Then Chris Sabin took on the “Ring General” Gunther in yet another David versus Goliath match up. Despite a good showing from Sabin he would fall victim to a Powerbomb off the top rope from his bigger opponent.

After that Jacob Fatu wasted little time in dismantling Zack Sabre Jr in the last match before the intermission. He put an end to things with a Samoan Drop and then dragged him to one of the corners and climbed up to the top rope. From here Fatu attempted and successfully hit Falling Fatu (Moonsault) for the pin.

INTERMISSION

Back from intermission and the “Rated R Superstar” Edge go one on one with Jake Lee. Lee put on a great performance but fell victim to back to back Spears from Edge.

Next Randy Orton took on Jon Moxley in a brutal brawl that lasted fifteen minutes and saw both men bleed. Orton attempted an RKO on Moxley only for the latter to fight out of it and then locked Orton in a choke hold. Which he proceeded to transition that into a Bulldog Choke and Orton passed out.

The penultimate match saw El Hijo Del Vikingo and Spike Trivet in a decent contest. EHDV got the win after hitting a Springboard Poison Rana and then followed it up with a 630 Splash for the win.

Finally MJF fought out of an attempted Ricola Bomb from Claudio Castagnoli to win the twenty four minute main event. He then distracted the ref and kicked Castagnoli in the balls and then rolled him up with a handful of tights.

BLOCK A & BLOCK B THIRD ROUND MATCHES

The fifth night of the PPW World Championship G1 Climax tournament opened with the third round of Block A matches.

Chris Sabin beat Chris Jeircho in a battle of the Chris’s, when the former pinned the latter with the Cradle Shock at the thirteen minute mark.

Next Zack Sabre Jr squared off with the “Ring General” Gunther in the squared circle for eighteen minutes. It saw ZSJ get the win by technical knockout when he rendered his opponent out with a Triangle Choke.

Then Sanada fought Moose in a match that lasted fifteen minutes, in the last minutes the former ducked out of an attempted Lights Out from the latter. Then grabbed Moose before he had a chance to right himself and locked in Skull End and the former submitted to the hold.

After that the last match before the intermission saw Jacob Fatu and KENTA wage a brutal slugfest of a brawl. Which took place in the ring and at the ringside area and even through the crowd but ended back in the ring. The match came to a shocking conclusion when both men knocked each other out as a result each man earned a single point.

INTERMISSION

Back from intermission and the third round of Block B matches kicked off with a bout between Jon Moxley and Jake Lee. While the former dominated early on the latter created some distance thanks to a kick to the head of his opponent and then he proceeded to back Moxley up into one of the corners. Then finished the match off with a Bazooka (Yakuza Kick) for the upset victory.

Next MJF faced off with and defeated El Hijo Del Vikingo by way of pinfall. He did this by getting his knees up on an attempted Springboard 45O Splash from EHDV and then transitioned it into a pin and got a handful of tights.

Then Edge took on Spike Trivet in the sixteen minute penultimate match. Which saw the second upset of the night take place after Trivet was able to get a roll up pinfall victory after he countered an attempted Spear into a pin for the win.

Finally the night closed out with the main event between Randy Orton and Claudio Castagnoli. It lasted twenty two minutes and it looked like Orton was going to get the win as he had his opponent set up for an RKO. However CC got out of it and then spun Orton around and attempted and hit a Ricola Bomb for the pin.

BLOCK C & BLOCK D THIRD ROUND MATCHES

The sixth night of the PPW World Championship G1 Climax began with the third round of Block C matches.
The first match of the night was the first for Kota Ibushi who was replacing the injured Ricky Knight Jr and he took on the “Mercenary” Steve Maclin. Ibushi got the win at the sixteen minute mark with the Golden Star Powerbomb.

Next Seth Rollins and Wardlow squared off in a back and forth match that lasted for fourteen minutes. The conclusion saw Wardlow lay Rollins out with a brutal clothesline and then proceeded to hit four powerbombs to get the pin.

Then Roman Reigns versus Kaito Kiyomiya in the second last match before the intermission. It saw Kiyomiya get the upset win with a combination of a Tiger Suplex and then a Shining Wizard.

After that the duo of Samoa Joe and John Cena closed out the third round of block C matches in a twenty minute classic. The ending saw Joe fight out of an attempted AA and landed behind Cena and locked in the Coquina Clutch and this saw Cena pass out.

INTERMISSION

Back from intermission and Austin Theory took on Alex Shelley, in a match that lasted thirteen minutes. The former got the win by cutting off an attempted springboard from the latter which resulted with Shelley landing chest first on the top rope. From here Theory dragged his opponent off the rope and onto his shoulders and then hit A-Town Down for the pin.

Next Bryan Danielson faced off with Alexander Hammerstone which lasted sixteen minutes. Despite some rule-bending from the “American Dragon” aka Danielson he would fall victim to the Nightmare Pendulum.

The penultimate ultimate match of the night saw the “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay take on the “Canadian Colossus” Josh Alexander. They wrestled for twenty five minutes and the match ended in a double pin situation.

Finally Kazuchika Okada faced Christian Cage in the main event of the night. The former dominated early on but the latter got the advantage after he poked his opponent in the eye, which allowed him to hit the Killswitch but Cage didn’t go for the pin. Instead he dragged Okada to one of the corners and then climbed up and then attempted but failed to hit a Frog Splash as Okada got his knees up.

Okada got back to his feet and then dragged Cage up and hit the Rainmaker for the pin.

BLOCK A & BLOCK B FOURTH ROUND MATCHES

The seventh night of the PPW World Championship G1 Climax tournament began with the fourth round of Block A matches.

To kick things off Moose fought Chris Sabin in a eleven minute match. The ending saw Sabin put Moose down for the count after a Super Cradle Shock off the top rope.

Next Gunther and KENTA spent sixteen minutes brutally beating the shit out of each other. The ending saw the “Ring General” lay his opponent out with a chop to the chest then he dragged him over to one of the corners and climbed up to the top rope. From here the bigger man hit a Diving Splash for the pin.

Then Y2J faced ZSJ in a decent twenty one minutes and in the end it saw Jericho get the win thanks to the Judas Effect.

After that the last match before the intermission and the final match of the fourth round of Block A. It involved Sanada and Jacob Fatu, in the end though the former got the pin after hitting his Deadfall finisher.

INTERMISSION

The opening match of block B was Jake Lee versus the “Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer. Let’s just say that you didn’t want to be in Lee’s shoes in this match as Archer made an example of him and put him down with the Blackout for the pin.

Next Randy Orton took on El Hijo Del Vikingo in an amazing sixteen minute match. The conclusion of the match saw Orton apparently out for the count on the mat after a Poison Rana from Vikingo. However, EDHV attempted to follow this up with a 450 Splash only for Orton to get back up and counter it with an RKO for the pin.

After that it was time for the penultimate match which was Edge versus MJF. It lasted for twelve minutes and saw MJF get the win by submitting his opponent with the Salt of the Earth armbar.

Finally the night closed out with a battle of Blackpool Combat Club stablemates between Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli. The two men shook hands as a sign of mutual respect and then locked up and went back and forth for about eighteen minutes. The thrilling main event came to its conclusion and ended in a situation where Moxley forced Castagnoli to submit to a Bulldog Choke while the latter had Moxley shoulders pinned to the mat.
