Alrighty the first superhero content of 2021 has been released and it’s a good one. The first three episodes of Peacemaker dropped today so I worked my way through them.

Unsurprisingly James Gunn nails it again. The guy can’t really do wrong at this point. He knows what his work should be and everything he touches has his signature stamp on it. This show is hilarious but it really does have heart at its core. It’s a real character study of what makes Peacemaker tick. The show takes it time but plot details are slowly coming together. Peacemaker IS a moronic douchebag who says and does crazy shit but he really is just a lonely guy who wants to do the right thing and Gunn hits these beats well.

I’ll talk about John Cena because the guy really comes into his own as an actor in this show. Now that he has a whole tv show to himself he’s really able to show what he can do and he doesn’t disappoint. He revels in James Gunn’s craziness and seems to be enjoying himself so good for him.

I will say that not every joke lands and that’s my minor criticism. Other than that the show is great. There are some truly brilliant moments here and with great performances all around it’s definitely worth the watch.

And it arguably has the greatest opening credits of all time so there’s that

I love how Jennifer Holland went from doing a low budget DTV American Pie sequel to a DC movie and its series spin-off. Getting with the director certainly helped.

This show has a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes, I'm really curious to see it when the last episode has aired. A close friend of mine I always go see DC or Marvel movies with told me she hates it and doesn't get the hype at all (she enjoyed TSS).

Alright one episode to go. This episode was amazing. If you told me a year ago I’d get emotional over a relationship between a man and an eagle id say you were lying but here we are. That shit almost made me cry lmao. And thank god he killed his piece of shit father.
