To Chris Paul, who basically told the Clippers that after they squashed the first incarnation of their Doc Rivers trade. Chris didn't like that. He let them know he was heading to Houston to team up with Dwight. And he wasn't kidding. For about 36 hours, Morey probably felt like all 11 guys in Ocean's Eleven. You know what happened next: The Clippers blinked, the Doc trade got revived and finished, and the Clippers were offering Chris 107 million reasons to play for him. Crisis averted. The lesson, as always: Chris Paul runs the Clippers. - Bill Simmons

Put Gerald and Shannon out there together to stab your eyes out
They just both need to stick to dunking is all lol.

And yeah CP3 does run that team which is why I never doubted that he would resign with the Clippers. He made that team not only relevant but for the first time made people ask the question who is L.A's team.

As for Detroit they weren't ever players to get the huge names so for what was out there I think they did pretty good despite the them being in a situation where Josh Smith is going to get it in his head that he should shoot the ball. Bucks on the other hand they went from having 3 starting level guards and thinking they gotta keep 2 out of the 3 to having none of them. They did get Mayo though

Knight, Delfino, and Mayo cost less than Monta, JJ, and Jennings. Plus they are a little bit bigger

But I can't defend Detorit. They screwed their cap years ago with Gordon and Charlie. Then they go out this summer and decide to sign Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings to round out a starting 5 with Billups, Monroe, and Drumond. I just don't see any efficiency with that 5. Heck their bench isn't impressive either.

As for the clips, I don't get it, well I do. He made them relevant but he isn't a true max player, not with his individual limits and team failures. By all means he should have say but its telling when their best season is equivalent to the season from hell for the Lakers

Despite what you think of him he is a no brainer max player. Unless the team already has a all star PG themselves you can't find me a team that wouldn't love to have him on their team. He's one of the most efficient point guards in NBA history who can make others around him look better than they are. And most of all if you can make people put Clippers and possible championship together in the same sentence you deserve a max deal.

He's never gotten a team to the conference finals. He's lost with hca. He's missing a piece of his meniscus. He has never played a full season of basketball. He needs his minutes limited. And he's never had a great playoff series.mhes not a max guy, he's not a crime like maxing out Joe Johnson by Atlanta or maxing out Ray Allen by Seattle, but he's a terrible max much like Deron Williams, an all star making superstar money when the league hasn't had a superstar pg since Kidds glory years in NJ.

i wouldn't max out love either

Maxing a player out always is going to depend on how much the team needs the player and that team isn't shit without him. Of course he hasn't been to a conference finals he had some sorry ass teams to work with in N.O and the Clippers just making the playoffs let alone how they have gotten in since he has been there is a accomplishment. Of course that honey moon period is kind of died down and now he really has to lead them further but to say he doesn't deserve a max cause of that is silly considering the teams he has been on. The whole the league hasn't had a superstar point guard since Kidd is bs you just mean there hasn't been a superstar point guard since Kidd that you like, lol. The damn MVP of the league not that long ago was a point guard.

No I mean there hasn't been a superstar pg since Kidd that has led his team to winning. Paul hasn't, Deron hasn't, Nash hasn't. Kidd was the lone pg superstar who could lead his team to the finals as the best player. We have had a bunch of all star PGs, but no pg since sans Tony (this past year) has truly carried his team in the playoffs, and he is an allstar, albeit a perennial one who will become a HOF guy like Ewing but still.

Theres been superstar SGs in Kobe, Iverson, and Wade. Superstar SF in Bron. Superstar PFs in KG, Dirk, and Tim. Superstar C in Dwight and Shaq. Kidd is the last true superstar pg since Stockton who is the one since Isiah and Magic. No team with a pg as their guy is doing shit in this league.

And the damn MVP ain't no fucking superstar, only fucker in history to touch the award and not play a finals game. Nash is a glorified perennial all star too

As for the conference finals bit, he choked, or better out tony Parker put his perennial foot up his ass. The hornets had the better record in 08 with all guys he wanted, they played an injured Manu, and they had the series lead. He choked that away as Parker kicked his ass to get to the WCF where la manhandled them. He choked as a clipper when Parker literally beat the shit out of him in their matchup despite them being picked to beat the spurs in 12. He choked last playoffs too with hca, and let mike Conley play him to a standstill with hca and being predicted to win. You give a guy talent and he didnt get the shit done, just won a bunch of RS games like Brons Cavs east

Didn't realize Derrick Rose (who hasn't got the finals yet) legally changed his named to Nash who won the MVP award in 2011 hence why I said not too long ago.

And being a superstar player doesn't mean you have had to play in the finals to be one. Melo is a superstar and hasn't got to a conference finals let alone a finals. MJ until the 90's never got to the finals and you can't tell me he wasn't a superstar before that.

I wouldn't label Rose a superstar either. Jury is out on him, he hasn't proven anything in the postseason yet either. Besides he literally got that MVP and blew out his knee

<br>
Hey yo, Melo played in the 2010 WCF against the lakers and lost in 6. Likewise he was eliminated by the lakers and spurs in 5 finals runs out west, unlike Paul. He actually lost to the conference or nba champs most his time out west and then got beat by Miami too. Paul has choked, no got his ass kicked by Tony Parker, Billups, and Conley in playoffs when he's supposed to be the best pg in the league ... That shit wouldn't happen to Kidd, Magic, Stockton, or Thomas and you know it ... It just happens to Deron, Paul, and Nash when they meet Parker like clockwork

Forgot about that but alright still by your logic Melo shouldn't be labeled a superstar with as many short comings he has had in the playoffs. Hilarious though that you jumped at the chance to diss Nash ignoring a guy who won the award two years ago, lol. Guess it's easy to do though with him missing the whole season last year and all.

Nash is a an old wound, sob played with Finley, Van Exel, Jamison, Walker, Dirk, Amare, Marion, Joe, Q, JRich, Hill, etc and never made the finals yet has 2 Mvps in his career ... Two as in the combined number Kobe and Shaq have.

But yeah rose literally got the MVP, blew out his knee, and didnt play again. Can't judge him.

Yes Melo has had shortcomings and if they were all on the same market I'd probably max Bron, Dwight, Melo, Paul, and Wade in that order (though wade would be higher if he wasnt glass man). At least Melo can say he outplayed his SF counterpart outside LeBron, and he's not labeled as the best guy in the world at his position like Paul. Not to mention he literally lost to the spurs and lakers his whole west career on their title and finals runs and then got Miami. Hell his teams unlike Paul's playoff teams have always been hurt short of the 10 run where Kenyon and nene both played (their only playoff run they both played healthy). And in ny, Amare tends to either get hurt or hurt himself see fire extinguisher in the playoffs every single year.

Gonna get the Fantasy Thread up in about a month here.

From there we will get everybody confirmed and take sign-ups then we'll discuss rule changes. Draft order comes after that.

Looking forward to it.

You can still struggle and make the playoffs though (they did that last year). Lakers are going to be a mess to watch while Kobe is out.
