NXT moving full time to Full Sail University

I've said from the start that NXT should be filmed inside of a smaller arena because the idea of "rookies" performing inside the big arenas, with the lights, huge tron and everything just doesn't sit with me. That's what one of the things they should be aspiring to, not cutting their teeth on.

More on the move from the Observor

– WWE began moving toward the NXT change when Titus O’Neil & Darren Young were moved to SmackDown in April, which left Derrick Bateman as the sole “Rookie” left on the show.

It isn’t yet clear on whether the company will continue releasing NXT episodes online via YouTube, nor is it known whether WWE has obtained a new TV deal for the show. The tapings for SmackDown are expected to go as a dark match, Superstars taping and then SmackDown, so basically the same as before without NXT. The plan is to allow developmental talent to perform in a more intimate setting, with a crowd mostly made-up of college students who are more likely to react well to the talent. In addition, WWE will be able to focus more on the tapings instead of ignoring it in favor of putting the finishing touches on SmackDown.

Florida Championship Wrestling has not acknowledged the change, with the only indirect acknowledgement being a note on their events page that says “No FCW Arena Live Event” on May 17th, the first day of the change.

JR and Regal are going to call the action with HHH as creative head ... Intriguing

With NXT and FCW being taped at Full Sail University soon, word is that WWE will still be taping another show on Tuesday nights before the Superstars and SmackDown tapings.

Regarding the new tapings at Full Sail University, speculation is that Jim Ross and William Regal may end up announcing that show. The new tapings are being described as Triple H’s own project and something that Vince McMahon doesn’t have his “fingerprints” on, yet.

Great move to have Regal & JR as commentators.

Hell, you could even use Regal to wrestle at times and put FCW guys over!

Nice idea to make the link between NXT and FCW even stronger. Will allow them to try out more developmental guys if they have a spot open on the show and it will improve the quality of the FCW tapings as well. Smart move to get into a University since they should be able to get good loud crowds especially since it is free for them, the theatre is pretty impressive as well.

HHH gets control of the show and JR finds his way to back to the announce booth, no surprise there!

Hopefully that report is true and isn't just random speculation by another wrestling news site. JR back as an announcer would be good even if it is NXT and it would be a great experience for Regal as he will be able to learn from the best in the business.

- Full Sail University announced on Facebook earlier today that tickets for the NXT taping on May 17th, 2012 are already sold out.
That is a big deal and good start

It is a good start but look at the big names they have booked for this debut show and it would have been a shock if it didn't sell out. The big test will be a couple of months down the line when it is just the NXT and developmental guys wrestling without any big names.

- As noted before, WWE will be moving their NXT tapings to Full Sail University in Florida. It was announced this week that beginning May 17th, the students of the university's entertainment-focused degree programs will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience by working with WWE to produce NXT.

Throughout the taping schedule, Full Sail University students, staff, faculty and the general public will be invited to attend the live tapings on the campus. All proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales will go towards a scholarship fund for students enrolled at or planning to attend Full Sail University.

Triple H commented:

"WWE has always been a leader in creating superstars in front of the camera. Now, with this unique partnership with Full Sail University, WWE will develop stars behind the camera as well. With the opportunity to host events at Full Sail's top-notch facilities and the chance to tap into Full Sail's greatest resource, its students, we are excited to provide real-world experience while giving us a fresh, creative perspective from ambitious students."

This is what WWE should've done for ECW imo, would've actually captured the feel for that type of environment. And smaller crowds are usually more vocal, seeing as it's easier to get a good chant going with 3000 people then 15000.

Seriously considering applying for that scholarship if I meet the criteria. Those kids are some lucky bastards.
