This show is based on his most successful character that has stared in two of his previous three shows. Summer Heights High was massive when it came out, everyone from school kids to uni students were crazy for it and it managed to be one of the highest rated shows in Australia even though it was on ABC which is a small government funded channel here. Everyone wanted him to do a second season of it but he never does that as he always wants to go with a different concept which I think is part of the reason people in Australia were disappointed with Angry Boys. This is the closest we will get to a second season of SHH so I can't wait. I still hold out hope that Mr G will somehow make an appearance.

It wasn't huge in the US or UK but I know that it was shown there so I thought I would mention it in the preview and that is why I finished with I don't know if anyone would have seen it.

Actually both were well received and well watched in the UK thanks to the BBC picking it up and hyping it quite well. I remember people talking about Summer Heights High back in College but I wasn't in education by the time Angry Boys came around but it had a lot of reruns and I actually watched all six episodes in a single TV marathon.

It is good to hear that it actually did well over there, not very often that we have an Australian tv show do well overseas. I know that Neighbours (ugh) is still running over there but other than that not many make it.

Good call, Jonah is his funniest so far but only featured in the one series. I guess there was an easier story to make here with Ja'mie going back to her old school after having to go to public school.

I just don't find Chris Lilley's work as funny people do here where the shows are popular, the humour is a bit too on the nose and he never really takes the gags anywhere. He has a fucking uncanny talent, however, of observing a culture, usually Australian youths, and mimicking it near perfectly.

Don't know why they'd give Ja'mie as spin-off season over Jonah or even the teacher (Mr. G. I think his name was?). Jonah had more of a dumbass underdog thing and the teacher was just pure gold every time now that I think about it.

Was thinking about what they could do with Jonah in regards to a spin-off. Pretty sure he went back to Tonga at the end of SHH so they could follow up on that or do something with him getting an apprenticeship.
