The whole thing is just a disgrace. He had no basis to not play Rip (as far as i know), but the players should still play and do their, and let Rip and kuester handle their business.

He refused to even meet with and talk to Rip after the trade fell through until Dumar made him. That was fucked up by a coach who will never mean more to Detroit than Rip
