It is a legendary album, and definitely influenced countless bands. But there's just something about the earlier albums I always preferred. That latest single really reminds me of something from With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness.

Absolute joke. They have two or three singles out and they're all terrible. Gone are the days of them being a good band, two bad albums and counting.
Can't blame you there. Hard for me to not at least check out new stuff because they were such a huge band for me when I started getting into black metal.
I still like quite a bit of their stuff, even the 'mainstream' albums that came later.
If you can get past the nazioccult aesthetic and just listen to the music itself, it is so nice. I love it.
