XXXIV: “A LACK OF INITIATIVE.”
Live from the National Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria.
Thursday 26th October, 2023.

FIRST MATCH || 1/20.
Brooklyn Steiner vs. Vengador.
Singles Match - winner progresses to the FWA Television Championship triple threat at Winter Wasteland.
Match writer: Dubb.

Brooklyn Steiner came so close to punching his place in the Gunfight Falls Count Anywhere match at Winter Wasteland, and was the last person to be eliminated from the thirteen-person battle royale at Lights Out. He has a chance to immediately bounce back from this disappointment, which saw him denied the chance to challenge for the FWA World Tag Team Championships and potentially also the FWA X Championship, almost immediately on Meltdown XXXIV. In Lagos, he will go one-on-one with another competitor who was unsuccessful in the aforementioned battle royal in the form of Vengador. The winner of this match, along with a sister contest to take place on Fallout 034, will progress to a triple threat match at Winter Wasteland. FWA Television Champion Kleio De Santos awaits in Istanbul, where she will defend that very title against not one but two challengers.

SECOND MATCH || 1/20.
Death Walker vs. Nate Savage.
Singles Match.
Match writer: Jimmy.

Death Walker was another man who was disappointed during the Gunfight Battle Royale at Lights Out in Kinshasa, where he finished in fifth position out of the thirteen strong field. He will no doubt be looking to rectify that loss in momentum, and will have the opportunity to do just that in Lagos. Standing in his way, though, is Nate Savage, who hasn’t competed since the Anniversary Show back on September 3rd. Since then, he’s been acting as support for Jackson Fenix in his ultimately ill-fated quest to secure the FWA North American Championship. This journey saw him defeat Death Walker to earn that opportunity at Big Bryan Bastard, and Nate will be hoping that he can do the same in this Meltdown XXXIV singles match.

THIRD MATCH || 1/20.
Deathswitch (Chris Crowe and Tommy Bedlam) vs. Eternal (Keres and Princess Nova).
Tag Team Match.
Match writer: Tommy.

Lights Out kicked off in a major and unexpected way with the return of FWA Hall of Famer Gabrielle Montgomery, who emerged at the very beginning of the main show to confront her former protege (and rival) Lizzie - now Elizabeth - Rose. The former ‘Rave’ is now firmly in the clutches of Keres and Princess Nova in Eternal, and seems to be playing up to this role, if the post-match events of her tag team match against PONI BOI on the Lights Out launch-pad is anything to go by. Now, she will be at ringside as her ‘sisters’, Keres and Princess Nova, take on a Deathswitch team who both had great nights in Kinshasa. Tommy Bedlam retained his FWA X Championship against XYZ, whilst his teammate Chris Crowe defeated Katsu and Xperienx Xtacee to earn a shot at the FWA North American Championship, a belt that he never lost inside an FWA ring. There will be many keeping a close eye on this tag team contest outside of the aforementioned Elizabeth Rose, namely Gabrielle, Big Bryan Bastard, and a host of potential X Championship contenders. The current FWA North American Champion, who defended his belt against Jackson Fenix at Lights Out, is expected to perform commentary ahead of his main event match in Lagos.

FOURTH MATCH || MAIN EVENT || 1/30.
Big Bryan Bastard vs. Kleio De Santos.
Singles Match.
Match writer: Dubb.

Lights Out was a huge night for Kleio De Santos, who won her first title in the FWA in the form of the Television Championship. Big Bryan Bastard also had a successful evening, retaining the FWA North American Championship against Jackson Fenix. That sets up this champion versus champion match, and - although neither title will be on the line - both competitors will be hoping to keep their momentum going as the next set of challengers for their titles are lined up. In fact, Big Bryan Bastard’s next contender has already been decided, with Chris Crowe earning his chance to regain the title he never lost at Winter Wasteland. Kleio, meanwhile, must wait for a pair of matches to take place on Meltdown XXXIV and Fallout 034, where two contenders will be chosen for a triple threat match at the Istanbul pay-per-view in December.

034: “FROM HERE TO TIMBUKTU.”
Live from the Gates of the Sahara in Timbuktu, Mali.
Saturday 28th October, 2023.

timbuktu.jpg

navy.png

FIRST MATCH || 1/20.
Gabrielle vs. Madison Gray.
Singles Match.
Match writer: SS.

Lights Out in Kinshasa saw the huge return of the FWA Hall of Famer Gabrielle, who appeared and broke up the Eternal party. Keres, Princess Nova, and Elizabeth Rose were in the middle of decimating PONI BOI following their victory on the Lights Out launch-pad, until the Goddess appeared and hit the ring to confront her former protege and rival. Rose and her sisters chose to leave the ring without confronting Montgomery, and one has to imagine that this is not the end of that particular story. Gabrielle will make her in-ring return in Timbuktu, where she will compete against ‘the Young Lioness’ Madison Gray, who has been impressive as of late despite coming up just short in her challenge for the FWA Television Championship in Kinshasa.

SECOND MATCH || 1/20.
Cali Hayama vs. Jackson Fenix vs. Trixie Bordeaux.
Triple Threat Match.
Match writer: Jimmy.

As part of the post Lights Out press conference, FWA executive brand consultant Jon Russnow made the huge announcement that, at Winter Wasteland, the YOKAI Death Squad would be given another chance at the Coven’s FWA Television Championship… but they won’t be the only ones to get that honour at WInter Wasteland. The Undisputed Xperienx - the team of Jackson Fenix, Nate Savage, and Xperienx Xtacee, who finished third at Back in Business’ trios battle royale behind YDS and the Coven - will also line up in that three-team, nine-person battle in Istanbul, and we’ll get a preview of that in Timbuktu. This triple threat match will feature one person from each team, with Trios Champion Trixie Bordeaux hoping to continue her, and her stable’s, excellent recent fortunes at the expense of Cali Hayama and Jackson Fenix.

THIRD MATCH || 1/20.
Jack the Clipper vs. Trevor Walker.
Singles Match - winner progresses to the FWA Television Championship triple threat at Winter Wasteland.
Match writer: SS.

The sister match of Meltdown XXXIV’s contest between Brooklyn Steiner and Vengador, this singles bout between Jack the Clipper and Trevor Walker will decide the third competitor in Winter Wasteland’s Television Championship match. Jack and Walker both competed in Lights Out’s Gunfight battle royale, with Jack the Clipper finishing sixth, one position ahead of Trevor Walker. Now, they will have the chance to prove who is the better man in a one-on-one contest, where the winner will be decided by pinfall or submission as opposed to over the top rope elimination. Rumour has it that the FWA is currently in negotiations with Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker, two popular whiskey brands, on a sponsorship deal, with some of product placement expected during this Fallout 034 encounter.

FOURTH MATCH || 1/20.
Blake Taylor vs. Sawyer Xavier.
Singles Match.
Match writer: SS.

Sawyer Xavier put in an impressive performance in the Gunfight battle royale at Lights Out, where he finished fourth, just short of the qualification spots for the Gunfight falls count anywhere match at Winter Wasteland. Next up in Timbuktu, he’ll have the opportunity to redeem a loss against Blake Taylor from Fallout 033 in Tanzania. Taylor may have been victorious in that contest over a month ago, but he will be disappointed with his performance in the battle royale in Kinshasa, where he was eliminated relatively early despite the promise shown in previous weeks. Both of these men will be looking to return to winning ways here in Mali, with Xavier no doubt tired of ‘impressive performances’ and hoping to translate that into victories.

FIFTH MATCH || MAIN EVENT || 1/30.
Konchu Hao (w/ Cyrus Truth) vs. Xavien Marshall (w/ Jay Kenny).
Singles Match.
Match writer: Man.

At Lights Out, the team of Cyrus Truth and Konchu Hao - otherwise known as the Dark Roads Alliance - triumphed in their quest to overthrow FTN and relieve them of their FWA World Tag Team Championships. Truth in particular will have savoured that victory, given his two unsuccessful attempts to win Chris Peacock’s FWA World Championship earlier in the year. There is no rest for the wicked, though, with the Dark Roads Alliance’s next challengers already lined up at Lights Out, and are expected to get their shot at those belts on Meltdown XXXV. These challengers, though, have never teamed together before, and will next week be thrust into tandem by virtue of their communal victory in Lights Out’s Gunfight battle royale. Jay Kenny and Xavien Marshall will compete against one another for the Gunfight One Ring at Winter Wasteland, but first they will be forced to coexist and challenge a team that is running like a well-oiled machine. Xavien Marshall will get a taste of the main event here against Konchu Hao, and - with Jay Kenny escorting his Gunfight co-winner to ringside - it will be out first opportunity to see if these two men can get along…

Deathswitch - I have been meaning to give some feedback on this promo for awhile, so sorry it took so long. I haven't read the shows, and I didn't read anyone else's promos on the card including my own much honestly, I'm that behind...but when I saw Tombstone I had to read this one. First of all presentation is top notch. It's pretty much how I think a presentation should be for a PDF. Not overwhelming but enough to set up the aesthetic and the mood. It followed the original Tombstone storyboard perfectly yet still felt original and like it's own story, and my favorite chapter was Seeing Double, because it had my favorite Doc Holliday quote. The shootout at the OK Corral was the perfect climax. The ending was perfect, just like the move, with Curly Keres looking like someone walked over his grave. I think this is how a parody promo should be laid out. It's hard to do the original source justice but you guys definitely pulled it off, and with a great story that really encapsulates the dynamic between Tommy and Chris (and also plugs in your opponents as the bad guys).

Overall great piece and a fun read that gives me nostalgia from an amazing movie.
