Matt Hardy Says "Goodbye"; Update on His and Jeff Hardy's Status With WWE

Petty

If You Smell....
-- After appearing on WWE Raw last night in a segment with Randy Orton where he was ultimately laid out, Matt Hardy tweeted a simple "Goodbye" as seen below. Hardy's contract with WWE expires on March 1 and the two sides have made no inroads in negotiations with the reported issue being creative differences. It appears by the tone of his recent tweets that Hardy for one is resigned to the fact that he will be gone come March.

-- Meanwhile, Jeff Hardy's contract was originally set to expire on March 1 as well but it has been extended by WWE for an undetermined period of time due to inactivity while he was rehabbing various injuries. Jeff is also due back in court in early April for a DUI charge from last year and there don't appear to be any plans to bring him back anytime soon.

Jeff will probably be in the WWE for a long, long while. I doubt that WWE are going to let him go early. Hopefully he is able to return to WWE as soon as possible so he can start using up his time there.

The Icon That Can Still Go
The Hardy's will always be one of my favorite tag teams, but at this point, I just think it's time for both of them to call it a career. They both look rather haggard at this point. Jeff, even now in his 40's, still hasn't overcome his personal issues, sadly. Matt looks kinda old and I don't know what else there is for him at this point. If they were to retire now, they can at least walk away with their relative health. It's probably not gonna get any better for either guy healthwise at this stage of their careers/lives.

Sometimes folks think these guys just started in late 1999 or the early 2000's, but they've been wrestling for longer than that, at least since they were jobbers on Raw in the mid 90's. So, there's more wear and tear on those bodies than we even know. They've been doing it for along time. Whatever happens, I certainly wish them the best, though.

Yeah, I remember the discussions of when Jeff revealed that his back was in bad shape from all of the dives on to ladders and tables that he had taken. That was like 13 years ago, more or less. Can't imagine how things are with him now and hes done a lot more bumps in TNA and WWE since then.

I guess that if Matt ends up going to AEW and being the "exalted one", they could easily get away with having him barely wrestle and that would be good for his health.

This is the ideal scenario....and hopefully if it happens, he can fix this dumpster fire of a faction.

Wasted run....had a good run at tag team initially.....then Jeff fucked up.

Then he got Woken and looked like him and Wyatt were going for a decent run.....then he "retires?"

No wonder the company were gun shy on using him....looked like he wanted to be used more. But he just up and came back after up and retiring while being a champion.

Tho....I was still holding out for another Halloween House of Hardy :pour

look I could watch the Hardys wrestle all day. I've always thought they were the coolest cats in WWE. They're truly attitude era icons who've managed to withstand the test of time even with all the personal problems. They'll always have a home in WWE in my book. Jeff was easily my favorite wrestler from 2007-2009. Hopefully he gets one more small run before he leaves.

Lol so it's just been announced that Matt Hardy will face Randy Orton in a no holds barred match on Raw. So much for being written off.
