I'm pretty sure he proved he could work in Japan, otherwise WWE wouldn't have resigned him at all.
I also don't want him pushed straight to the main event scene though, would rather use him to add some prestige to the US title, since Show is probably doing that with the IC title.

If WWE actually had Johnny Ace say that "natural disasters" were coming Punk's way because Tensai means disaster than I take my hat off to WWE. That is an excellent subtle inclusion on the show and is a great thing to slip into the show. Would be happy to see Punk defend against Tensai, Tensai can work and it will look good for Punk to defeat a big guy like that.
