Friday night's season premiere edition of WWE SmackDown
averaged 2.243 million viewers on Fox, up 1.6 percent from the previous week. It's the second-highest audience total for the show since July 22.
SmackDown topped all network television with a 0.54 rating in the 18-49 demo, which was the same number as SmackDown drew last week. It was third on television, trailing an MLB wildcard game on ESPN and the SportsCenter that followed it.
SmackDown also led English-language network TV with a 0.34 rating in the 18-34 demo but trailed a show on Univision in that category. It trailed the MLB game and SportsCenter in 18-34 as well.
As compared with the same week in 2021, SmackDown was up 4.5 percent in viewers and up 3.9 percent in 18-49. It's just the second week since July 1 that the show has had a year-over-year increase in both categories.
