Yeah I understand that. I've been thinking about this since Smackdown ended and I'm still disappointed. Cody did everything right and he's still wrong apparently.

Pretty much underlines what I thought first when they brought their World Heavyweight Title into existence and that is that the WHC is seen as a distant #2 "World" Title belt within the WWE. The consolation title. Doesn't matter, if they give Cody the title from Seth in the end. They blew it a second time.

And on top of it, it kinda makes the L at Mania last year feel even worse now, doesn't it?

I mean, let's be honest. The overall Title run was still pretty good. The first year Reigns as a heel was still pretty fresh and he together with Heyman was one of the very few highlights of WWE TV, especially seeing how much better Reigns was on the microphone, for example, compared to all his years as a face. The second year we had one of the best long-time stories the WWE put on in a very long time with the whole meat of the Bloodline-Storyline. Of course, this was mostly due to Zayn, Jey and Jimmy, but it's not like Reigns wasn't a big cog in that whole thing.

The big problem was this last year and I think people already forgot how good the run was until Mania 39. It was the perfect point to stop it. Especially with how the rest of 2023 turned out regarding the Bloodline-Storyline. ...but as so often in the past, WWE milked something for too long and now they are in such a narrow corner that there isn't a good way out anymore. Like I said before, even if they'd give Cody the W over Reigns this year (which they probably will at Summerslam now), it will always be tainted with "too little, too late"

It's 100% because Punk got injured that this is potentially happening. I'll give it time to see how it unfolds but disappointing.
