According to one of the worlds most renowned Physicists, Sir Isaac Newton, for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. This is a hypothesis that he applied to everything, there was no exclusions. Thus, following said hypothesis which is widely accepted within the worlds science community, punching the air will result in the air punching back.
