Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Takenori Sato slated for UFC Fight Night 52
A welterweight bout between Hyun Gyu Lim (12-4-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Takenori Sato (17-9-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been targeted for September’s UFC Fight Night 52 event in Japan.
Lim recently announced the fight on Facebook, though UFC officials haven’t made a formal announcement.
UFC Fight Night 52 takes place Sept. 20 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama Japan. The event is expected to stream on UFC Fight Pass.
Lim, a 29-year-old South Korean and former PXC champion, signed with the UFC in 2012 and ultimately made his promotional in early 2013. After scoring knockout wins over Marcelo Guimaraes and Pascal Krauss, he ran his winning streak to seven fights. However, most recently, he got a step up in competition and suffered a decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine in January’s UFC Fight Night 34 headliner. Despite the setback, he received his second straight “Fight of the Night†bonus.
He now takes on Sato, a 29-year-old Japanese fighter and former longtime King of Pancrase who made his UFC debut earlier this year. However, at UFC Fight Night 36 as an injury replacement, he suffered a 52-second TKO loss to Erick Silva. It snapped a 10-fight unbeaten streak that stretched back to 2010.
The latest UFC Fight Night 52 lineup now includes:
Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson
Rin Nakai vs. Miesha Tate
Kyoji Horiguchi vs. opponent TBA
Takanori Gomi vs. Myles Jury
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Kyle Noke
Norifumi Yamamoto vs. opponent TBA
