Star Wars did more good for the industry while the Matrix is pretty much a forerunner for destroying.

Hard for me to choose between Matrix and Silence of the Lambs. But SOTL was just the better film. Iconic.

Uh yeah, explain how Matrix "destroyed the business"

Anyways, I went with Star Wars. Much more important to it's genre and completely timeless. Matrix was good, but hardly an original plot. And SOTL, although a very good movie, just can't compare to the cult following of Star Wars at all.

Over usage of CGI instead of practical effects that is currently decreasing hollywoods believability?

Not following you at all. Matrix used a ton of non-CGI effects.

Also I would add that Star Wars is guilty of wasting CGI effects and is far more driven by gimmicks than by story not least the most recent films.

The Matrix with Lambs not far behind I guess.

Methinks he is saying OG Star Wars, nobody cares about the special editions here.

Matrix ushered in that fetish of wireworks that killed action movies for almost a decade.

Even the first one? The sequals you may have a point because they tried to push the boat too far, but I think the original was very well written with great character depth.

The wireworks in Matrix were looked at as revolutionary, but for anyone who ever watched Kung Fu movies of yesteryear will have seen far better ones, this movie was a great movie, no doubt about it, but it also was the catalyst for overuse of wireworks in Hollywood action movies.

All I'm saying.

CGI wasn't even invented yet in 1977. What the hell are you talking about?
