Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA's reigning two-time Most Valuable Player, has signed a multiyear extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced.

Antetokounmpo's agent, Alex Saratsis, told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that it will be for the full five-year, $228 million supermax, including an opt-out after the fourth year.

So, Giannis has reupped with the Bucks. That means the free agency class for 2021 just became lame. Everyone was preparing to make a run for him. Does this shock you guys? In this day and age of free agency and player empowerment, why would a superstar want to stay in Milwaukee?

Because the cost of living is lower, the fans are a lot more loyal and dedicated, and having a career staying in one place is one of the smartest (not best) moves a "superstar" caliber player could make. Him staying will make other decent/good/great players consider Milwaukee as an option in the future, and they can build the team around him better now as well. Whether they will do that, is a totally different conversation.

There's not a lot Milwaukee can do when they've already given a big contract to Middleton, and then I'm sure they intend to re-sign Jrue to a big ass deal as well. Those three contracts will probably have them close to the salary cap just right there.
