And with that, the NHL lost patience, so the Utah Jazz Owner bought the team from the NHL (The NHL bought the team from the old owner, letting him keep the Arizona Coyotes branding etc) and now the team is going to be playing in Salt Lake City next year.

Yeah, so if the old Coyotes owner can get an arena deal in place by 2029, then the NHL will reactivate the Coyotes as an expansion team

If not then they'll be considered fully dead.

But, I don't blame the people of Arizona for voting no to that proposal. The No camp actually spent money advertising, the NHL and Coyotes ownership cheaped out on their pitch, and the Coyoyes. The team also has had no stable ownership since coming into the league, rarely been successful, and their arena before being stuck at ASU apparently was a bitch to get to traffic wise, so why show up when it'd be a hassle to get to?

And when the team has had bad ownership, why give him your money? Still sucks for the genuine hockey fans in Arizona. Auston Matthews is from there, seeing Ovi play his Coyotes made him want to play hockey, and in the years since the minor hockey in the state has grown a fair bit. Just they have been screwed by shit ownership and poor NHL hockey for decades. They nearly moved multiple times. The past two years was them delaying it.
