Drew McIntyre still expected to stay with WWE, no new contract yet

Chris

Dreams are Endless
Despite being advertised for a show that's taking place after the end of his deal, Drew McIntyre hasn't put pen to paper on a new WWE contract yet.

Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that McIntyre hasn't signed a new WWE contract yet, but they're working with the idea that he isn't going anywhere. It's probable that McIntyre will sign a new deal with the company.

Meltzer said:

Drew McIntyre was announced for a show in May in Italy. And obviously, his contract is up in April. So I guess the first question was: Has he signed a deal? And the answer to that is no, he has not signed a new deal. But he seems very happy so far with his new [heel] character, and he's really excited about it. They're working with the idea that he's not going anywhere, but nothing is signed. But I think the talk of him taking a lot of time off and everything like that -- probably not. And he'll probably sign a new deal, but it's still just a probable until it happens.

When asked about his contract last September, McIntyre said he doesn't plan to be anywhere other than WWE.

McIntyre is among the wrestlers advertised for a WWE house show that's being held in Bologna, Italy on Wednesday, May 1. The show is taking place three days before Lyon, France hosts WWE's Backlash premium live event.

At Elimination Chamber later this month, McIntyre will be one of the competitors in the men's Elimination Chamber match. The winner earns a World Heavyweight Championship shot against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

A feud between McIntyre and CM Punk has also been set up for when Punk is able to return from his torn triceps. When Punk was addressing the injury on Raw, McIntyre interrupted him and attacked him. Punk was originally scheduled to be Rollins' WrestleMania challenger, but Punk will be out of action for several months following triceps surgery.

It’s only a matter of time before he re-signs honestly.

He seems to be enjoying himself, he’s primed for a top spot and it looks like he’s finally going to have his moment of winning a World Title in front of fans.

It has to get done sooner rather than later if it hasn't already, they've invested way too much into him recently to just let him walk.

He's more than likely winning the belt at Mania. If he doesnt re-sign after the Chamber Id be shocked.

More than likely going to end up being one of those 11th hour type deals. Wait until the very last moment.

Drew McIntyre gets asked about his contract situation with WWE.

The Scottish Warrior’s current deal is set to expire this April, with multiple reports revealing that the former world champion has yet to sign a new one despite being advertised for WWE events in May. McIntyre himself refuses to comment on the situation, and tells West Sport that he’ll let the internet continue to talk about it before advising them to continue watching WWE programming.

I can’t talk about that. I’ll let the internet talk about it. I’ll just keep watching. It’s interesting. I’m not the only one that has a contract in WWE. It’s just interesting that it seems to be mine that is on there every week for a year.

I would honestly be shocked if he doesn't stay with WWE at this point. Especially with this new character they have gave him and a big push at that.

HELL IS NOT A MYTH
He should be one of the absolute top guys of this company so as long as he's treated as such, I'm glad for him to get his money and keep doing what he's doing.

The Ace of WS
I don't think he's going anywhere unless WWE low ball him fsr which seems unlikely at this point considering the push he's currently getting

99.9999% sure he’s not leaving.

Dates/Money probably the only reason a deal hasn’t been reached yet
