After Backlash's 12 Diva Tag Match, I was thinking about the status of the amount of diva's in the WWE, and what should be done with the divas. I mean, should they really be put on all three brands?

I don't think they should be. I would rather see them all on the one brand, with the Women's Championship. I don't really care which brand, but I don't think that matters.

Is there really a point in having divas on every brand? Do men just watching wrestling to see some T&A? Obviously not. If they wanted that, they would go watch porn. Sure they like it, but not having it on every show won't drive anyone away.

If all on one brand, the divas could be given a chance to *gasp* wrestle, rather than just be in bikini contests, or dance offs on SmackDown or ECW. I mean call me crazy, but I thought the divas were employed in a wrestling company.

Some people may think if all divas were on one brand, there would be too many divas. Well then we can get firing. If WWE headed in a more wrestling direction with the divas, something tells me Kelly Kelly would be the first to go. I also couldn't see Eve or Layla being around much longer. This would actually help women's wrestling, as people watching would realise, hey, they can wrestle. You can't tell me that Kelly, Eve or Layla are employed for the purpose of wrestling anyway.

With more divas chasing the title, we wouldn't have to see Beth Phoenix vs Mickie James for the billionth time. We could actually see some fresh feuds and match ups. Women's Championship reigns could be longer, as they could defend against more opposition, rather than just having to drop the belt because they have no-one to defend it against.

This is just a thought I had. I know that it is something that probably will never happen in WWE. And I know a little T&A never hurt anyone. But I would still rather the divas be athletes.

Thoughts?

IDK man, I was thinking and seriously, when did you last see a bikini contest?
Maybe the summer?
And all on one brand would either take away time fromso many wrestlers ont hat brand, or only allow for like 1 diva match a week instead of 2 or 3 now. Like, if theyre all on SD, then you have to try to fit like 5 or 6 divas into one segment/match, and that would take up quite a bit of time.
Now though, you see them like 5-10 minutes on each show, which is fine for everyone They get their matches, we see some hot divas, and it doesnt take time away from other wrestlers.
And about your point saying "would it drive everyone away if they werent there"... Youre right, it would be fine. Because its not like we're missing bikiini contests or anything (they dont do those anymore for some reason), so all we'd miss without divas is matches, and I could survive without diva matches.... But its fine how it is IMO.

^^Two diva matches a week on say SmackDown wouldn't be too bad though because they have no real midcard, and it could give them a chance.

As for the bikini contest thing, they recently had that diva contest thing for the motorcycle on SmackDown. I stopped watching that after the second week because it bored the s*** out of me.

Women wrestling just doesn't appeal to your average testosterone filled fan, so I don't think it'll happen. Though the wrestling has gotten better, WWE will always have a place for T&A, to get the fans relaxed and a way to escape from the big guys in tights. And the Divas on different brands are fine, because they can be used as managers too. ECW doesn't really have "wrestling" divas, and I'm fine with that.

Edit: Responding to BKBs post

^ Ah, well sorry, I stopped watching SD for a month or so and must have missed that.
But look back in 2001 til like 2004 and there was a bikini contest like every other show.
But my point isnt about that. Like i said in the other thread, IMO its better now. Everyone on one show would not only take away time from the wrestlers, but also not be entertaining ( just normal matches) in a business all about entertainment.
And now, I like it because it showcasses all the divas, and then moves on after 1 segment/match and doesnt take up much time from the guy wrestlers. My opinion though

they could have a rule that says DIVAS can be on any show...and yes, there are some people who only watch wrestling for TnA :p

it all changed in mid 1990's when vince decided oh lets use sexier women and less good at wrestling women. sunny was the first then sable who could wrestle abit then torrie and stacy and candice. its all vince's fault really. then the name changes from women's wrestling to diva wrestling. i hope women's wrestling would get better but for some reason i dont think it will.

That fact that they call them "DIVAS" isn't helping anything at all. The womens division in the WWE is practically non-existant. TNA's "Knockout" division is obviously leaps and bounds ahead of where WWE could ever hope to be with their current womens roster. Aside from Pheonix, Mickie James, Victoria and Melina there's really not a whole lot of talent going on.

K this sort of got off topic. The question Travis said was: should we put all the divas on one brand? But noone is answering that.
And my point was that since the wrestling isnt that good, theres no need to see the wrestling more than needed. Im fine with just 1 match on raw, 1 on sd, and maybe one on ecw... But having it all on the same show means 2 or 3 diva matches per show, which is dumb because it takes away time from the male wrestlers which is what we mostly watch for... So keep em all on different shows.

The divas are more or less a joke, I put more of my faith in knockouts and hope they won't go the same way. I think it is wrong to objectify women in wrestling, it's sexism. Pure and simple. The only "divas' I have ever really been a fan of were Chyna, Lita, Trish Stratus in her later stages and more recently Beth Phoenix, Victoria and Mickie James.

I think keeping them seperated between brands works fine, I just think the quality of matches needs to be addressed also it wouldn't hurt to stop calling them 'Diva's and just have them as competitors. What if we suddenly renamed all of the male wrestlers as 'hunks'.

^That wouldnt make sense. We dont call them "babes", so calling them "divas" instead of female wrestlers is fine. Just like male wrestlers arent called male wrestlers, or "hunks" theyre called superstars.

Calling a male wrestler a male wrestler is the same as calling a girl a female wrestler
(Nobody calls them that)
Calling a male wrestler a "hunk" is the same as calling a female a "babe" but nobody calls them that...
But calling a make a superstar is like calling the female a diva... Its just a term, the sameas superstar, so theres nothing wrong with calling them that.

And people shouldnt say about WWE using them as eye candy, cause they are never in bikini contests or bra and panties matches anymore, its only crappy matches now

What should we do with the Divas? Fire them. Beth Phoenix and Victoria can be picked up by TNA, and the rest of them can go back to servicing drug dealers or prostituting or whatever talentless skanks used to do for money before the WWE came along.

WWE clearly has no interest in them, save for whichever one most recently agreed to take her clothes off for money, so they should stop wasting money and air time on them. It'd do them as a company and us as viewers a big favor.

They should just put all the Diva's who know how to wrestle on Raw. The Rest could be spread around the other brands and act as managers, strippers, or backstage announcers. They shouldn't even stand in the ring until they have recieved sufficient training to pull off a passable match.

For Example:

Raw: Beth, Jillian, Victoria, Mickie, Melina, Candice, Katie Lea
SD: McCool, Ashley, Cherry, Eve, Torrie
ECW: Kelley Kelley, Layla
