I am assuming this is for comedy purposes but having never watched any wrestling in Japan I am not sure what the basis or motive for this is exactly.
I will say I would prefer to see this in the WWE over James Nochins any day. lol

<Scanning... Scanning.>

That is indeed quite strange. Though it is entertaining.

The company that match is from is called DDT. They use a lot of comedy (mainly slapstick) to stand out. Yoshihiko (the blow up doll) is treated like a real wrestler during matches and is a cult figure within the company. It is very tongue in cheek. It's the Japanese equivalent of WWE's sports entertainment style in a lot of ways

They also have a belt similar to the old WWE hardcore title that operates under 24/7 rules for example. And the list of champions includes a monkey, a miniature dachshund, a ladder (that they held a retirement ceremony for this year when it got so old they could not use it anymore) and the actual belt itself.

Add in some very talented wrestlers and that DDT is one of the best storytelling companies out there and it is a very good watch if you click with the product.

If anyone is interested in giving DDT a try but are put off by the language barrier they do post slightly older shows (late 2017-early 2018) with English commentary on youtube in batches from time to time

If that is your first impression of DDT, why the fuck would you want to give it a try?

Fixed that for ya :emoji_smirk:

That's cool to know that there's an English version of their shows, and even cooler that Speedball's doing it. Will definitely have to check that out sometime.

Joey Ryan sounds an awful bit like Edge's old tag team partner.

I could see the Inflatable Doll getting hired by the WWE to put Roman over...

*Thinks*

Actually no...that wouldn't work...

The Inflatable Doll has more personality & charisma than Roman...and
would most likely be cheered as a face in that feud.
