Bond vs The Rock?

Dwayne Johnson or The Rock as we would like to call him is no stranger to the glitz and glamor associated with Hollywood.

After entertaining fans in the wrestling industry for over a decade, he has also gone on to star in over 30 movies including hits like The Scorpion King, GI Joe, Fast and Furious and many more.

The former WWE champion now wants to don the role of a villain in the iconic James Bond movie franchise. Speaking to an Australian media agency, he said: “I would love to be a Bond villain. I am a huge fan of Daniel Craig and the Bond movies but it seems only right to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps as a Bond baddie.”

Rocky’s grandfather, ‘high chief’ Peter Maivai played the role of a driver in the 1967 Bond movie You Only Live Twice..

Whatever the outcome maybe, it would take more than just guns to stop Rocky as a Bond villain.

I would be stoked for this, I think he would make an excellent villain. He can look like an evil genius who also can beat the fuck out of you.

Prove me wrong
Yeah i think this would be a great role for him, most bond villains are jacked and Rock is that. Plus it would be nice to see him be a full blown heel in a movie.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I'd love Rock to be in a Bond movie, but I don't know how well of a villain he'd make. He'd be a good Jaws-esque villain, a big guy but more of a henchman then the main villain. There's some other guys I'd like to see be the villain over Rock, but I'd still love if he got the part.

Doubt Rock is just henchman material, he has some acting chops and will definitely be more threatening than the guy from Casino Royale or Quantom. Pretty sure he would make for an excellent former agent, if that wasn't the storyline for Skyfall. Why not an underboss for S.P.E.C.T.R.E or was that whole thing abandoned after Quantom?

Yeah Rock can definitely act, I'm just saying he looks more like the second villain in a movie, not a mastermind. I'd love to see him be the main one however.

I can see what Chris is saying. When Rock first broke out in wrestling he did so because of his slick, swagger and verbal skills, but his image has become more of a jacked power man with a lot of chrasma also. I see him more as a sidekick pesonally, don't think he quite has the character depth to be lead villain, but it would be interesting to see.

It's not even character depth that I'm thinking of, just the look he has. It doesn't scream stereotypical Bond villain, but the stereotype isn't always necessary.

Does anyone know if that S.P.E.C.T.R.E subplot was dropped after Quantum of Solace? Rock doesn't have to be Bloefeld, but he can make a great underboss like a Mr Blonde and tease a Bloefeld for the next movie.

Quantum is the name of the S.P.E.C.T.R.E. group you're thinking of in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. It's basically the same type of group, just with a different name.

but was that whole thing dropped? Don't remember anything about it in Skyfall.

I'm not sure if it was dropped, but it definetely wasn't in Skyfall. Wouldn't surprise me if they brought it back in the next one like how S.P.E.C.T.R.E. wasn't mentioned in Goldfinger but came back in some after that.

I would be all for it. I can see him being a leader of a local uprising in a foreign land. Play to the mans strengths, and you can get a leader type that looks like a soldier.

The Rock could most definitely make a awesome James Bond villain.

I've never really watched any James Bond movies however.... :/
