Robert Roode is reportedly in Detroit for WWE SummerSlam.

According to a report from PWInsider, the 47-year-old is set to work as a producer backstage at the show. He is also expected to work Monday's Raw taping from Minneapolis in the same role. However, it is not clear if this is a tryout or the start of a permanent position for him.

Roode underwent two spinal surgeries in a five-month span recently. He had fusion surgery on his C5 and C6 vertebrae last December and had the same procedure done for his C4 and C5 vertebrae in May. Roode hasn't wrestled in over a year. His last match took place on a house show from Amarillo, Texas on June 25, 2022, where he lost to Omos.

PWInsider is also reporting that Randy Orton is in Detroit for SummerSlam, although it is not clear if he will be involved in the show at all. The 43-year-old hasn't wrestled since May 20, 2022, when RK-Bro lost the Raw tag titles to The Usos.

Transitioning to life out of the ring....feel like in the next 3 years alot of Triple H's OG NXT guys will be working backstage.

I'm still bitter about his main roster run. The guy was top heel / World Champion material.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is where he ends up for good in six months. Reports were always that HHH was always a fan of Roode ever since his Team Canada days, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if Roode has a job for life as a producer. And really he should, if he can't go he definitely can help people put together solid matches.

I would not be shocked if this was a permanet role, the guys had a decorated career, and could really help the company in any capcity

Finally an actual good step towards making the product once again... glorious...

Side note: I kinda wanna see Roode as an On-Air authority figure. I feel like that could be such a perfect fit for him.

Imagine this : random whiny heel is asking for a championship match.

Roode's music hits.

He does his Glorious entrance for three good minutes, enters the ring, takes a mic, get in front of the heel's face and just says :

Another guy who imo never got the top guy run he deserved (other than in NXT). Hopefully he can help other guys be glorious

Dark Side
It'd be a shame if his in ring career is over, but man's a wealth of knowledge and experience so I think he'd be great in a producer role, even as a mentor to younger guys going up.

He’s got 20 years in the business and 2 surgeries back to back.

He’s one of those guys like Joe who you wish didn’t spend their physical prime in Impact

I mean I didn’t really see any decline in him during his WWE run
