Not quite yet buddy, drops fully on the 21st
I got tickets for Friday but the general consensus is that it’s basically just an exposition vehicle for The Rock. It allows him to be… well…him. But the story is trash and doesn’t really make much sense and it’s not nearly as groundbreaking as it thinks it is. And pretty much everyone thinks the villain is fucking terrible.
Obviously I’ll judge it myself when I see it but if this movie is bad I give up on DC.

I did. Dumb fun, action-packed, loved the Justice Society despite the extremely thin development they get, Dwayne being Dwayne and second coolest villain death in a comic book movie after Ron Perlman's in Blade 2.

Just saw the movie and uh…. it wasn’t good. Seeing Dwayne Johnson as a superhero is of course awesome and when he’s just fucking people up it’s entertaining. Pretty much nothing else works though. The story makes no sense. The JSA basically have no character development. Doctor Fate is the only one with a personality. There are some scenes in this movie that are truly ridiculous even in a movie where things are supposed to be ridiculous. By the end I basically threw my hands up in the air and screamed what the fuck am I watching. I will admit that the comedy actually did work a good amount surprisingly.
If The Rock wants to keep playing Black Adam I’m all for it but for fuck sake he needs to hire better screenwriters. If this is the new era of DC storytelling we’re in for a rough ride.
