Big men Ruslan Magomedov and Richard Odoms added to UFC 177
A new heavyweight contest has been added to next month’s UFC 177 event in California.
Ruslan Magomedov (12-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Richard Odoms (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) have been booked for the card, officials recently announced.
UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. The event’s main card, including two title fights, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Magomedov vs. Odoms will likely be part of the FOX Sports 1 prelims.
Magomedov, a 27-year-old Russian, recently made his UFC debut and extended his winning streak to seven fights with a decision victory over Viktor Pesta at UFC Fight Night 41. He earned a UFC contract after beating the likes of former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia and Ricco Rodriguez, and Mike Hayes.
Odoms, meanwhile, is the latest arrival from the Texas-based Legacy FC promotion, where he suffered his lone carer defeat to Jared Rosholt (who also went on to sign with the UFC). However, in his most recent bout, the 39-year-old police officer scored a decision victory over D.J. Linderman to get back in the win column.
The latest UFC 177 card now includes:
Champ T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao – for bantamweight title
Champ Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso – for flyweight title
Shayna Baszler vs. Bethe Correia
Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson
Anthony Hamilton vs. Ruan Potts
Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Ramsey Nijem
Ruslan Magomedov vs. Richard Odoms
Justin Edwards vs. Yancy Medeiros
Derek Brunson vs. Lorenz Larkin
Henry Cejudo vs. Scott Jorgensen
