Are We Finishing the Story? The Cody/Rock/Roman Megathread

Butters

That's Me!
my only problem with this whole thing is that it seems goofy to me that two heels want to fight each other because its the biggest mania of all time or whatever. like roman was basically ducking the rock for years in kayfabe and now he's like, "k i'll fight him even tho we're pals now"

Butters

that tweet tho was probably the best they could do to make kayfabe sense of it all and was probably the rocks best work since he's been back.

I get it doesn't make as much sense in classic wrestling logic, but even from a real life "pretend it's not fake" POV, you see things like that happen in MMA and the Paul brothers boxing a lot too. Rock says it was because the match would be so big translates to "we were going to make a shit ton of money and you've ruined it"

This is obvious head canon but I can even rationalize both of Roman's reactions pretty easily too. The original Rock surprise obviously he was mad about, he doesn't like not knowing plans and goes fucking insane when he doesn't they've established.

But give it a few days and he realized this is a bigger match and in kayfabe should be way easier to him. So he makes more money with a higher chance of retaining, hell yeah he's more than happy once he cools off lmao

You know, when I think of it like that, it makes sense. I mean hell I was the one saying how Roman should want Jimmy to win the Rumble and choose him over going after Seth like Paul was telling him to do. I was like :pogba Wouldn't it make more sense for Roman to want an easy W?

in my head it just means roman is more scared of cody than he is the rock and i like that
That’s exactly what it is.

In storyline, nobody has pushed Roman to the limit during this run as much as Cody did at Mania last year.

So despite all his bravado and grand standing, deep down, Roman doesn’t want to face Cody again.

I'd kind of argue that Seth did. Its the only person he didn't beat, and only kept the title because of DQ. But yeah you can probably still give the slight edge to Cody there.

Yeah Roman has always came off as very cowardly in his own acting in the best of ways. I just think the commentators don't put it across as much as they should bc they also have to sell how "dominant" he is for the reign's prestige

Way back when he got cheated out of the Royal rumble. I wanted it to be Seth but I think at this point he’s doing pretty good for himself.
