Used a YouTube series that compared and broke segments down by ratings but always made excuses for why Austin’s highest related segments didn’t count in the main events. Like the one that did an 11 with the Undertaker.

No, that second question is a little harder to determine because it really depends on what year he came in as a younger star and what year he’d be the age of his now in the attitude era.

In 1999 I don’t foresee Cody being a bigger star than either Austin rock or HHH just to be clear. But he could be an upper mid, like Jericho, who would occasionally slide in main event like angle as well.

Now when we get to the 2002. And we do the first brand split and rock and Austin essentially both leave. I do think Cody would’ve been one of the top main events on whichever brand they put him on.

Which is technically is the start of the ruthless aggression era, but most attitude era stars you know at the time would’ve still been there, and Cody would’ve continued his career there.

A landmark event like wm 40 deserves better than a rematch of the years previous wm

So I'll say this, if they wanted to do Rock vs Roman that would have been fine. The issue is how they did it:

• Have Rock win the rumble from idk 29. If he can't do 10 minutes at the end of a rumble, the Roman vs Rock match is going to be fucking wank so that should be a sign not to do it if he can't go more than 10 mins (cause I can assure you Rock vs Roman will be 25 mins plus even though it should be a sprint).
• Or have someone not named Cody win the rumble so Cody doesn't have a locked in title shot. Then there is no kayfabe claim to Roman's title freeing up Rock vs Roman.
• Or not have Cody win the rumble and basically call out Roman that night followed by randomly setting aside for a title match that no offense to Rollins, we have seen have seen several times.

The issue was how WWE got there. It was dumb and it made no sense. Also willing to bet any lapsed fans who tuned in would tune right back out after WM. Cody's comments in AEW in 2019 sums up a lot of my feelings to the majority of the AE:



I loved this promo at the time and your posts actually reminds me how much I've come to hate the majority of the AE due to people's obsession with trying to go back to the past. If you love the past so much, the network is available btw. You can relive it. The world moves forward. If I wanted to watch Rock wrestle, I'd watch him in his prime not getting gassed doing a couple of moves.

I wouldn’t have been ok with rock and Roman for any reason this year because triple h had been telling us since 39 literally ended that story wasn’t finished and we were only in the third inning. If triple h never said that and we just had to accept cody simply lost we could have done anything for 40, but he locked himself into Cody finishing the story.

It also doesn't help that a majority of the Attitude Era was straight up just bad television and glorified softcore porn. I mean ffs, we had some pretty bad homophobic, sexist, and transphobic content during the AE.

Not to mention the infamous blackface segment in fucking 1998.
