Anthony Hamilton vs. Ruan Potts set for UFC 177 in Sacramento

A heavyweight fight has been added to the lineup for UFC 177 in Sacramento.

Anthony Hamilton (12-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is set to meet Ruan Potts (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the card in late August. UFC officials announced the fight at UFC.com.

UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. The main card will air on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. The main event features T.J. Dillashaw, who defends his new bantamweight title for the first time against the man he upset to win it, Renan Barao.

Hamilton, who trains at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., made his UFC debut just two weeks ago. But the former MFC heavyweight champion was submitted by Alexey Oleinik in the first round at UFC Fight Night 44 in San Antonio. That snapped a six-fight winning streak, five of which had been finishes.

Potts, from South Africa, made his UFC debut in May on a three-fight winning streak of first-round submissions under the EFC Africa banner. But he ran into a tough Soa Palelei, who knocked him out in the first round at UFC Fight Night 40. All eight of Potts’ wins have come by stoppage. His loss to Palelei was the first time he had been finished.

With the addition, the latest UFC 177 card now includes:

T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao
Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson
Derek Brunson vs. Lorenz Larkin
Shayna Baszler vs. Bethe Correia
Anthony Hamilton vs. Ruan Potts
