AEW Collision Talent Meeting Led By CM Punk - Per Figthful​

There was a talent meeting ahead of the July 8 episode of AEW Collision that we’ve learned more about. When Fightful heard that there was a talent meeting at that episode of Collision, we shortly found out later that it didn’t make its way to talent who weren’t there or are typically featured on Dynamite more than Collision. There was a good reason for that it seems, as a large part of the meeting was about how Collision has differentiated itself from Dynamite, to the point to where many of Dynamite’s usual detractors have taken to liking Collision. CM Punk led the meeting, and there were several topics brought up on how Collision could separate itself from what fans see on Dynamite, including the finishes of some matches. They went over what was and wasn’t good for collision, such as finishes, shenanigans and the like. There were also subjects covered such as promoting AEW related projects and shows more, especially the Fight Forever video game. Some of the safety guidelines were also covered during the meeting.

I mean if they are going to make the shows different from each other Dynamite should probs have a meeting like this to do the same thing (I deffo prefer Dynamite styler wise personally). But yeah this just makes sense to me

I'm more than okay with them being distinct in a lot of ways as long as both are good. It makes both feel more must watch and equal to me since I like variety in wrestling anyway. If both are mostly the same type of show with different talent, people will be more likely to assign that "A show" moniker to either or

I think it was very smart to run the finals of the tourney on Collision and Blood and Guts on Dynamite. Makes both shows feel must watch for sure

Blind Eliminator title shot on Collision too even tho tournament been mostly Dynamite/Rampage. Good split so far, I think Collision obviously already benefiting from the post-Forbidden Door booking being able to take shape

Honestly, making your shows feel different from one another is far more effective in my opinion than a hardline roster split. But also, there’s still very clearly a handful of guys only appearing on one show.

This honestly makes me pretty happy. This is why I’ve always trusted Tony to know what to do because I said Wayback when rampage was announced that I didn’t want a wwe style roster split but rather a soft split with ways to make your shows feel differently, and just not booking any particular talent on both shows on the same week.

That is far more effective and I love the fact that not only is CM punk stepping up as a locker room leader to make up for what happened before but the whole crew seems to be on board with him on the idea of crafting a unique collision identity and I second that Jon Moxley or Kenny Omega, whomever on dynamite, should do the same and dynamite can also try to craft a little bit of their own identity.

fwiw they probably already have some leaders on Dynamite (Mox, Danielson, Jericho, Omega) so prob had similar convos but im sure with Punk urgency is paramount as they need the show to be successful in a short amount of time

Tony def seemed more open to moving the Rampage hour to be a third hour of Dynamite in the media call this week, I think that's all dependent on when WBD wants the hour tho

I was actually gonna say it would make more sense to just add the hour to Dynamite versus keeping it as a third night show, but I know some hate three-hour tv.

Then people will def argue Dynamite is the A show like they did with Raw for years (it was true but still) until Smackdown moved to fox and they couldn't anymore lol
