Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho won the IC title on December 12th 1999 at Armageddon from Chyna, A double pinfall with Chyna on the December 30th 1999 Smackdown made them Co-Champions and the belt was declared vacant even though both cleared to share the title. Jericho defeated Chyna and Hardcore Holly on January 23rd 2000 at The Royal Rumble making him a 2 time Champion. He lost the title to Kurt Angle on February 27th 2000 to Kurt Angle at No Way Out. Jericho won his 3rd IC title on the May 4th 2000 Smackdown from Chris Benoit. He lost the belt back to Benoit on May 8th 2000 on Raw. He won his 4th title from Benoit on January 21st 2001 at The Royal Rumble in a Ladder Match. He lost the title to Triple H on the April 5th 2001 Smackdown. He won his 5th title on September 16th 2002 on Raw from Rob Van Dam. He lost the title to Kane on the September 30th 2002 Raw. He won his 6th title on the October 27th 2003 Raw from Rob Van Dam. He lost the belt to RVD in a Steel Cage Match the same night. He won his 7th title on September 12th 2004 at Unforgiven by defeating Christian in a Ladder Match. He lost the belt to Shelton Benjamin on October 19th 2004 at Taboo Tuesday. He won his 8th title on the March 10th 2008 Raw from Jeff Hardy. He lost the belt to Kofi Kingston on June 29th 2008 at Night Of Champions. He won his 9th IC title from Rey Mysterio at Extreme Rules on June 7th 2009 in a No Holds Barred Match. He lost the belt back to Mysterio at The Bash on June 28th 2009 in a Mask vs Title Match

Randy "Macho Man" Savage won the IC title on Feburary 8th 1986 in Boston from Tito Santana, He lost the belt to Ricky Steamboat at Wrestlemania III on March 29th 1987.

Oh my god man. I hate these Current Vs. Past wrestlers. However, Jericho is my favorite wrestler of all time, and nothing will change that. As Macho brought new meaning to the belt, Chris is always the best in books. He also holds the most IC title reigns ever, so end the end, I'll probably be the lone knight fighting for Jericho, but I can never go against the man that made me start watching wrestling.

The wrestler can only try as hard as the company wants them to. And WWE didn't want the title to mean crap in Jerichos time. He did the best he can, and I can honestly say that in all 9 runs as IC Champion, Jericho has put out better matches then even the Macho Man.

Jericho has the next match tommorow syndrome. Macho Man always mapped out his matches thoroughly and made everyone he ever wrestled look like a million bucks. Sure he would jump outside every match, but the style of the time dictated such and I doubt Jericho could produce a good Ultimate Warrior match.

I'm not taking away anything from Randy Savage, but I do believe that he was a great superstar, and a great wrestler, but as for the Intercontinental Championship, I don't think his 1 time run can beat all 9 of Jericho's combined.

That one IC title reign defined his career.

Jericho's reigns were mostly just to appease him, since the guy was a pain in the ass about his spot.

This was a very close call as Deezy mentioned Randy always put his A-game during his reign as Intercontinental Champion where as Jericho was thrown in the mix with some lack luster names in his nine reigns but had some great matches. I had to pick Jericho, I think the title did more for him than he actually do for the title but you can't deny the fact he had some good fueds in his times as champion. I especially liked the encounters he would have with Benoit, The submission match they had was epic and the ladder match...Although im not quite sure if the latter was for the IC title.

Putting aside deezy's silly baise against Jericho, I can see both sides of this, and it is a tough call. One is a true legend, and the other I think will become known as a legend in years to come, and of course these are two different eras and two different styles. On the one hand you tend to think of Macho more as a main eventer [although the feud and match with Steamboat was classic], then again holding the title nine times [don't forget that also means he lost it nine times] in such a short space of time, did hurt Jericho's credibility, but then that is down to booking not him. My vote goes to Macho, but not by much.

Tough early match-up. Both guys did a lot with the IC belt but I have to go with Savage. When he was IC champion he basically brought the IC title to even pegging with the World title and had some incredible feuds over the title. That title meant a lot more when Savage was champion.

Have to go Savage here. Jericho held the belt so many times because he wasn't in the main event and needed something to do. Macho used the belt to elevate himself to Main Event Status and make himself arguably even Hotter than Hogan at the time. (They paired the two for a reason).

Silly bias? BIAS?!?!?! Did you mean to say I have a bias against Jericho? The guy whose two biographies I own.

I think he was speaking Strictly to the fact that you have commented a few times that Jericho wasn't happy with his position, and complained a lot. (Which is true, just to clarify).

Randy had the title when it did mean something, Jericho had to basically carry around dead weight. But Chris was one of the last IC champions that you recognised as a big deal, Tell me who was contending before we had Kofi, Ziggler etc. Maybe we had some names like Hardy, Mysterio...Who were actually quite a big deal a few years back, But did they actually step up like Jericho did when he went heel? It rejuvenated his career and made him seem like a fresh face.
