'24' Movie Pushed to Next Year (Exclusive)

Kiefer Sutherland has made peace with Twentieth Century Fox over his "24" movie, but the project has been pushed until next year, TheWrap has learned.

The movie production was set to start shooting next month after Sutherland wraps the season for his television series, "Touch," but a dispute over budget and the star's fees put the project off schedule and means it has to be pushed until next year.

"It didn’t work out right now. Everyone is trying to figure out how to do it next year," an individual close to the project told TheWrap.

A Fox spokesman did not respond to several requests for comment.

The plan now is for a new writer to rework the script, which Billy Ray wrote.

Earlier this month, TheWrap reported that Kiefer Sutherland, who stars in the television series and the film, and is one of the movie's producers, was furious with Fox over budget and salary issues.

In the early stages of negotiations, Fox offered to pay Sutherland $1 million, rather than the $5 million he wanted. In another round, the studio offered $2 million.

The studio also wanted to cap the movie's budget at $30 million, while Sutherland and producer Brian Grazer thought the movie needed at least somewhere in the low $40 million range.

This has been going on for like 7 or 8 seasons and they are going to do a movie? Why? I understand it is popular and everything, but how are they going to do a movie without breaking from what has made the show a hit.

Because there's still so much more than can do with it. I've been wanting a movie for years and years, even before it ended when one was rumored to be happening, and I really don't care if it breaks form or not, I just wanna see it.

But don't they do just as much, if not more with a show. I don't see them doing much more with a two hour movie than with a seasons show. I don't know, just seems like it would be a waste to me. But I would feel that way with any TV show getting a movie.

Well, I would rather see another season of the show, I'll agree with that part. If it comes down to a movie or them not doing any more with it, I definitely want a movie.
