The other night, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and boot up my old Pokemon Gold game on my Gameboy colour. Loaded it up and was horrified to see that the 'continue game' option had gone. For whatever reason, my save game had gone. I tried to start a new game, but it wouldn't save. In short, my game is broken.

Apparently Pokemon Gold/Silver die after so many years. They lose the capability to save a new game. That's what happened to mine.

Needless to say, I was gutted about what I'd lost;

Over 200 hours of gameplay, almost every single Pokemon on the game, more than 10 years of work, all gone because of a bad design in the game cartridges.

As such, I decided to start again. I downloaded an emulator and a Pokemon Gold ROM and I'm beginning the game again. I'm not playing it on the Gameboy because I don't want a repeat scenario of what's happened to my current Pokemon Gold cartridge. I'm playing it on the PC, and I'm going to catch every Pokemon, at the age of 20.

Similar thing happened to me with Pokemon Blue once upon a time. Had almost all of them, including Mew, and the save file was deleted. I'm almost 22 and just bought Pokemon Black, it's one of those, "Once a favorite, always a favorite" franchises I feel.

I got a Black and White rom, and I gotta say, I'm loving this game so far. I had my doubts as far as a new total generation with no new evolutions, etc., but I like it so far.

As for the series, I can definitely see myself at 23 getting the new game.

I downloaded the white rom, and personally I think it's the shittiest generation yet. The pokemon look more like something I'd see in Yu-gay-oh not Pokemon. I mean the only sick start is Snivy, which is a pimped out/classy treeko imo.

Honestly dod, if you're looking for the Gold experience, I'd say download Heart Gold for the DS. I personally think this is the best game Pokemon has released, maybe it's just me, but I love having your pokemon follow you while you go through your journey. Plus they've put all the people on steroids, so it's actually somewhat of a challenge.

Also, where are you guys getting your DS roms? I can't seem to find a working one as of yet.

Usually I use Coolroms.com, but I got this one on a torrent.

And I have to disagree Itchweed. I do not know why, but I'm really interesting in this generation. It's a fresh new start you could say. When the generation was revealed I had the same opinion as you, but it's changed after actually playing the game.

Anyways I am with Itch on the new gen. This new gen is very crappy in terms of Pokemon design. Story and gameplay though is pretty much the same which is cool for me. I like the starters from this gen too they are not as bad as many say they are.

Just completely finished White. White was cool but it was really, really short for a Pokemon game not as long as Pokemon games in the past. Which is kind of sad for me. I was expecting a lot more.
