So is Davey Richards Retiring or what? He's main evented the last 3 shows. Was that rumor false, or did i miss something?

that rumor was a couple of months ago, and I remember someone just took it from his myspace, which I think wasn't updated for a while. It doesn't look like he's retiring or taking a hiatus at all, it looks like he's going to peak this year after getting picked up by NOAH.

So here's the current card for the Danbury show.

ROH World Title Match Elimination Rules
Jimmy Jacobs vs. Tyler Black vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Nigel McGuinness

Special Challenge Match
Brent Albright vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Anything Goes Street Fight
The Necro Butcher vs. Brodie Lee

Singles Action
Austin Aries vs. Sami Callahan

Tag Team Challenge
Bobby Dempsey and Erick Stevens vs. Rhett Titus and Kenny King

Tag Team Challenge #2
Eddie Edwards and Chris Hero vs. Kevin Steen & ??? (Jay Briscoe)

For a Friday show (Which are usually the "B" shows), this seems to be one LOADED card. Hell, Danielson doesn't even have a match scheduled.. Thoughts?

Its solid....I wouldn't say its a great card. Interesting to see Tyler Black want to hang onto his title shot till later, but yet gets a title shot at the next show. To me this card is kinda missing that second big match. Like you mentioned Danielson isn't scheduled yet, but perhaps there will be a Danielson/Smith brawl or something. Albright vs Claudio doesn't fit the bill for a big match.

However i haven't noticed Pearce does have some packed Friday cards, which generally end in DQ in the undercard matches.

I really like the idea of Aries vs Sami Callahan, however i hope Aries doesn't wrestle his slow heel pace.

On a side note...now that ROH is on TV...they REALLY need Jack Evans back. Human Tornado would be nice for TV Tapings as well. Those guys are TV friendly. Plus with all this recently released talent, they might as well scoop up Petey Williams, Teddy Hart and Jimmy Rave as well.

Agreed. This is something that people rarely mention, but ROH has become a bit one-dimensional in its wrestling product. Back in the day we had some comedy wrestling, some high-flying, and the more usual "big match" which was wrestled in a serious manner.

Now it feels like everyone wrestles in a similar way, and that variety that ROH used to have is no longer there.

That's where I think bringing back guys like Evans could help the ROH. Just to give people an alternative to what they see on TV every week. Not sure about Teddy Hart, though.. I just can't see him not doing something to screw things up.

Does anyone else think Bison Smith vs Danielson is a recreation of Danielson vs Morishima? They're doing the big guy vs Hero again, that's what made me think of that.

And with TV, they do need something exciting in the ring. 1 Hour for TV is great, you can't really get bored with it. But with the wrestlers and pace that ROH has, new fans would think it's more of the same with WWE. Just one quick spot match a show would help draw someone's attention instead of headlocks and chops for 10-12 minutes.

I was also thinking Dragon vs Bison reminded me of morishima as well..

I'm not so much worried about the product ROH is going to put on, its the fact they are taping 6 weeks of shows one weekend. That'll throw off all the storylines with PPV/DVD releases. If we thought it was bad before, i would think it would be even worse with television. New fans are going to be clueless on how to follow the product.

I hate Bison, so I never thought of it.

I agree on the product too. ROH has become very one dimensional of late, with the tag division being the only thing that can change that up.

I don't like Bison Smith either. He's going to get boring after another month.

Taping 6 Episodes in one week hurts too, but it makes the most sense. I don't know how ROH is going to tie storylines in with shows. But maybe TV and DVD could be two separate things?

Idk what ROH plans for that...that would be kinda silly to have two seperate storylines going. But they might not have an option. it would be one thing if they taped it today, to air tomorrow and then 6 weeks... but by the 6th week of tv airs, it could be like in the June timeframe.

Idk if i hate Bison Smith yet. I'm kinda indifferent on him. I'd have to see him in a longer match i guess.

This whole getting on TV thing seems likle a huge mistake. WHen a company makes most of their profit through DVD sales, PPV definitely isn't a great idea. This TV thing looks like it's going to screw up the storylines too, which is gay.

Impatience may just cost ROH.

KENTA is coming back to ROH. He's scheduled to wrestle in the March 20 and 21 shows, as well on both shows during WM weekend. Now for the obvious question..

Who would you guys like to see him face?

That's good news.

I would like to see him face Roderick Strong, Strong hasn't been doing too much lately and facing KENTA would definitely be good for Strong and be a great match. I also think maybe a World title match would be good, Nigel needs to keep things fresh so facing KENTA would be a good choice. I don't think I have seen Jerry Lynn Vs KENTA, so that could be something different and could bring a little hype. You could even probably through him into a tag match with someone, those would be the best choices of opponents imo.

Lynn? NOOO!!!

KENTA's return would be kinda ruined if he came in just to face him. I know Lynn has his fans and whatnot but that would be one of the worst choices to face a NOAH guy.

But as I mentioned in the other thread, Nigel is who I would like to see him face just based on the title. Roderick is who I think could put on the best match with him. Danielson wouldn't be too bad either.

Generico maybe..? :g:

KENTA for the title, plz. I still say they need someone to come in and win it because the only person actually in ROH in a position where they look like they have a chance is Lynn, and I don't want to see the belt on the old man.

I really don't think anybody wants to see Lynn win the title.

Nigel, Strong and Danielson are definitely the top 3 choices imo, him Vs Nigel would be new because he hasn't faced or defended against KENTA but also Strong and Danielson would have awesome matches.

You would think that they way they have been pushing Tyler Black that he would be facing KENTA, I don't really want that to happen but there is a good chance that it will. There is also a small chance they may have Austin Aries face him and while I like Aries I wouldn't want him to face KENTA this time round.

El Generico is awesome but I doubt they would put him in a match with KENTA since KENTA isn't back for too long, they would probably try and use guys with more star power and bring in a few extra fans or something.
