Swagger...champ?

Kaedon sees where I'm coming from. We don't know whether or not this guy will sink or swim yet. But why take the risk of putting over a possible failure at the expense of a guy who has been such a loyal worker. It was a complete shit on Matt's first title reign as well.

im glad swagger is champ, i think he has potential and WWE are going to find what he can do by giving him the ECW belt. I really hope creative give him something good to work with in terms of feuds and storylines

Wait just a second..... You guys don't like Jack Swagger the heel? Oh wait, then maybe, just maybe he's doing a good job. Swagger was sucessful in OVW/FCW in the little time he was there, and now its onto ECW. ECW didnt really have anyone else to put the belt on, so Swagger made sense. He's got potential, although i think it was a little early. Some wwe fans don't even know who he is.

I also do not think Swagger will go the Lesnar/Lashley route. I think its a good move to put the ECW belt on him, and see what happens. Heaven forbid the wwe push someone new.

I hate the guy but not in the good way more of a Vicky style hate. I just think the guys is a buffed up goofball and I can't stand the guy, I really hope he drops the title to Dreamer sooner or later.

I think it was a huge slap in the face of Matt Hardy. A guy who has been more than loyal to the company and put over a one legged freak show gets THIS?

And while SOME PEOPLE can wrestle jobbers or lower card wrestlers and earn respect from fans, Swagger isnt one of them.

i enjoyed the match between swagger an hardy he dose look bad though ith the smile i cant decide if tehy want him to be like a funny heel or just a dominate force sort of thing he kinda reminds me of Kurt Angle if anything the title change frees up more feuds i would love to see him and finaly go at it

I really like Swagger in the ring. I see a little Kurt Angle circa 1999-2000 in him.

BTW, as for his character, like I have said before, for a guy who has been around for about 5 months, the fact that he's getting heat from the crowd by just smiling shows how great he's doing.


A little early? Yes. Should he have beaten more established wrestlers in his way to the belt instead of just Finlay and Matt Hardy? Yes. But this is the chance WWE gets to see if he sinks or swims. It's obvious WWE is high on the guy, he was champion in FCW since FCW became a Developmental Territory, dropped the belt only because he got called up, is undefeated and now the ECW Champion.

WWE sees a future WWE Champion in Swagger, but with thsi ECW reign, they test how the crowd receive him as the face of a brand

There is barely any holes in his workrate. He has great bump and feed, he makes the best faces, he sells like a motherfucker and he can cut a promo. But most importantly, he can work with anyone. Lets face it, the whole reason he was moved to ECW was the same reason Benoit was. Because Benoit was the workhorse and could drag a good match from the shittiest of the shitty, as Matt can do as well, just not on the level of Benoit. Oh, and he didnt kill his wife and son either. :1:

Agreed on everything but the promo aspect. Aside from his days as V1 Matt has never really nailed the promo aspect. But still, there have been and are plenty of guys like him who are equal to or better than him who never saw any kind of world title run. Matt got lucky. If ECW didn't exist right now there would be no world title run for Matt.

There is nothing in Swagger that stands out at all. His tights are generic, his moves are generic, his face is generic, and most importantly the character he is portraying is GENERIC. So many other people have played this exact same cocky heel and have stood out doing it. This guy is cookie cutter to the core.

Swagger is an impressive guy, definitely a superstar groomed for the future. Perhaps it's a touch early for him to be champion, but it's a good way to provide him with a nice push and feud with Hardy over the belt.

I remember hating this guy when I first saw him last year but I'll admit he has definitley grown on me and has earned the right to wear the ECW championship belt IMO. One thing about Swagger that sets him apart from guys like Ortiz and DJ Gabriel is that he has a hunger that the other two don't. Gabriel is like a fake plastic generic guy and Ortiz is one fat tub of shit. Swagger represents the reality between these two losers. I'm going to give him a pass on the lame "All American" gimmick because he will have plenty of time to evolve and find a character thats right for him. After reading this thread, I had to go to YouTube and watch the Hardy/Swagger match again and what stood out for me was not only his strength,but also his ring smarts...When he whipped that turnbuckle off away from the sight of the refferee it got me thinking about something. What if Swagger became the one heel in the WWE universe who could cheat effectively... without ever getting caught. Week after week he would retain his title by cheating, but he would always get away with it untill perhaps one pay per view he is caught and loses the title.

One more thing I want to point out. If there going to set up a feud with Dreamer, I want to see Tommy Dreamer gutwrench powerbombed through the announce table and Jack Swagger getting on the mic
and declaring the end of not only the disgraceful career of Tommy Dreamer, but the DEATH of old ECW!!

Currently nobody in the WWE wrestles the same way he does. He amateurs wrestle practically the entire match. His finishes has been taken before but we last saw it in 99, so I dont mind it.

his face is generic,

is there any other pale, short blonde haired male in the roster?

and most importantly the character he is portraying is GENERIC. So many other people have played this exact same cocky heel and have stood out doing it. This guy is cookie cutter to the core.

If you only see him as a cocky heel, you are missing practically the other half of his character.
