^^^Agreed. Other than Rhett's character (Not his actual in-ring skills), I have found pretty much all the students to be boring. Its a shame, to be honest. They've had Punk, Aries, and Delirious as the head trainers, yet they've only managed to train wrestlers that turn out to be sucktacular.

I find it hard to believe that CHIKARA can run a better wrestling school than ROH.

The school isn't that great. And I agree with Chikara's school being better. The lucha libre influence from Quack is better than what ROH has had. and even if they look generic, Chikara does a good job with masks and gimmicks, while ROH has boring characters (except Titus) that were already doomed from the start.

The problem i got with the ROH students is, they don't look believeable, not much of a draw and some are just too green to be put onto your company dvd's.. it's bad business marketing for your dvd's.. because once anybody see them on it they will be pissed off...

I'd say Davey Andrews, Pelle Primeau were probably the most decent while titus has the charsmia..

But all these students lack alot and maybe they should be kept for dark matches...

I'd only bother letting them wrestle when you need to do a squash match. It'll help them improve their selling, and it gets them on an event which seems to be what ROH wants.

The problem i see with the students ROH has, it just appears like half of these goings shouldn't be wrestling. Grizzy Redwood is very short. Bobby Dempsey is overweight. Alex Payne, Ernie Osirus, Kyle Durden, and whoever else have nothing when it comes to a athletic background, charasmatic look or size.

The Tag teams of The American Wolves (Richards + Edwards) and Stevens/Albright seem to be the new wave of tag teams in 2009. Both have made a interest splash with buzz. Thoughts on these teams, and will suceed??

Also, the Paul London to ROH rumors have been heating up as his booker said he is now open and taking offers.

Paul London to ROH would be great. Seriously wanna see it.

I don't like Stevens or Albright personally, so them teaming isn't exactly exciting for me. Don't like Eddie Edwards either, although I'm quite the Davey mark.

I heard Davey was moving away from ROH though.

You made a good point with the physical appearances of the Students. And they're just randomly changing the personas of the students. There's no huge storyline reason behind Grizzly Redwood, Shane Hagadorn, and Dirty Ernie Osiris changing from out of nowhere.

American Wolves sounds like a pretty lame name. The team of Edwards & Richards looks like it could do pretty well, but without Larry Sweeney, they probably won't go anywhere because both of them don't have enough charisma to be big heels. Richards does play a good heel, but not really during a match. I haven't seen any glimpse of personality from Edwards yet.

Stevens and Albright as a team makes sense too. Both of them were really going nowhere, and they tied in the SNS Inc feud to put them together. I see them lasting for a little while, but I don't think that they'll win the belts. They have potential for some nice feuds though. (Pearce if he comes back, AOTF)

London coming back would be amazing, just having him there would bring old fans back in to watch a show.

Amazing Red returned last weekend, does anyone think he has a chance of returning to ROH? He looks completely different though.

Sweet, if London is back ROH is gonna get a whole lot better! But then again, "stomping ground" Stomping goes along with Low Ki pretty nicely! Nah, London is who who should be, he could have some great matches...

Seems like a way to consolidate him as someone for the future. Don't think it'll lead to anything big, or maybe not anything at all, but I think this is their way of telling him they think he has a big future.

This is probably a good way to test out Tyler Black as a major champion before giving him a big push in ROH. Smart move.

I am glad Tyler won the FIP title, i wasn't a big fan of Go to start with. Still this is a good way to test him out as a champion before he moves on to the ROH title.

2 discussion topics for today:

Does ROH promote their markets, as good as they could??

Its about 3 weeks away from Virgina/NJ double shot weekend, and NOT one match has been signed. Its about 5 weeks from Det/Chi and the talent hasn't even been released yet. I understand Final Battle its supposed to be one of the biggest shows of the year and they are promoting the hell out of it. But show's that big shouldn't need as much promoting. I'd assume some fans would want to see some matches, before spending the money on tickets. It doesn't have to be a main event match, perhaps just a grudge match, or a stipulation match of sorts.

I think the Detroit crowd is going to dive in ticket sales this time around. It seems like they are always giving us a reason to go to the show. So far in the first half of 07 ROH brought in MCMG, Kota Ibushi, Lance Storm and a PPV to Detroit. With a near 7 month layoff, and what most likley leads to be a lackluster (ppv setting up) show, i could see bad reviews coming. I know its still early, but Jan. tends to be the worst month for ROH.

Nigel vs. Challengers (Could ROH do more)

With Bryan Danielson's legendary reign, it seemed like ROH was bringing in all sorts of outside talent. But with Nigel's reign at the 14 month spot, i think there is still a TON of indy talent out there (not in ROH) worthy of a title shot.

- Brent Albright
- Jack Evans
- Paul London
- Low Ki
- Rob Van Damn
- Trevor Murdoch
- Lance Cade
- Davey Richards
- Pac
- Tna talent ( Sabin, Shelly, Homicide, Hernandez)

Would it be in ROH's best interest to showcase Nigel against some outside competition so to speak? If not, should ROH add some stipulations to some of the rematches. The only stipulation used so far was a cage match between Nigel and Hero. They could have a Roddy vs Nigel submission match, or a Nigel vs Steen Fight without honor.

I think if Nigel does retain tonight, ROH is going to have to start bringing in some new talent, or add some stips.

They're only promoting the big markets now. The smaller towns like NJ or Detroit are more like set up for the next Chicago, Philly, or NYC show, it's more depending on the last show. I've noticed that matches have been announced later than when Gabe was around. We would know what a whole card was 5-6 weeks before a show, but now with Pearce, the card was finalized just last week.

Nigel vs. Challengers (Could ROH do more)

I've been saying that since the summer. Nigel already beat everyone at least once, and the matches were already repeating like Steen, Claudio and Aries. What made Danielson's and Joe's runs good were that they defended against everyone, not just ROH regulars. but I don't remember the last time ROH brought someone in for one show except for Joe.

stipulations would be good too, I haven't seen any of those with Nigel during his reign. but they probably need a big feud to set that match up.
