The funniest contradiction in religion is "love thy neighbour". Okay, so what if my neighbour is gay? Oh, right, I must shun him.

Great commandment.

I peronally am a Judasim or otherly called Jewish - I am a thourough believer in Judaism but I know or would like to know the following -

Sorry if this seems a bit out of line -a bit rude to ther religeons but serously I am being perfectly honest because I know little to nothing of Christianity and I have a question or two that hopefully a christian can answer me from one man to another. I am not trying to be rude if these questions baout your religeon come off rude I am not trying to say your religeon is bad but I just was thinking about Christianity and a few things got me a little confused hopefully a christian can answer me -

1# - If you guys believe that Jesus Christ was your god, your messiah so to speak if you christians believe that Jesus is your lord and believe that he was born a jew but died a christain ? How can this possibly be when you guys even say in your Bible that Christianity's existance the name Christianity the reliegeon Christianity started 300 Years after Jesus Christ had passed away - I am not flaming your religeon jsut simply asking a question, ? How can he be born a Jew and die a christian when Christianity was started 300 years after he was crusified?

I'm agnostic, thoughn I adhere to some Confucian and Buddhist values and practices. There's no certainty in anything, which is why I choose agnosticism; I don't want to be antagonistic to any religion or lack thereof, regardless of my feelings. I was once a Catholic, then I became an Atheist, and now I'm agnostic. I realize now there's no way we can ever find the truth in anything (Science can be BS), and faith can fail you.

I'm Muslim, proud to be one.

Islam is often wrongly associated with Terrorim, it's false all behind the media politics... we're generally better than most of the people in this world.

Islam is a religion deeply shadowed in darkness, people need to see the real "light" seriously, half of you don't even know what Islam is... shame.

The only reason people believe that is because most people are being exposed to the fanatic muslims. The Muslims that will tell their 12 year old child to strap on a bomb and blow him/herself up "in the name of god". It is wrong, and even you as a Muslim should admit it. Its these Muslims that are associated with Terrorism, and these are the kind of people that most of the world is exposed to. I feel your pain somewhat, I get "you're a terrorist" jokes when I say that I'm from Lebanon (Christian btw), and I'll even acknowledge the fact that there are some fanatic muslim Lebaniese people in this world.

My point is, don't go around and try to make people feel bad for you. The fact is, people in YOUR religion are the ones that teach their kids that they should commit suicide and kill other innocent people "in the name of god". Does that mean that all Muslims are like that? No, but a good number of them seem to be and that is what is being shown to the rest of the world

Oh and, all Muslims that wear that burka thing should not wear it in the US. They can do it in their own country, but now here. Thats another subject though

Why do people think he wants us all to feel sorry for him just because he is proud of who he is? I am proud to be an Athiest so does that mean I want you all to feel sorry for me?

It's not as easy for someone to come out and say they are Muslim, especially after 9/11. Practically the entire world gives you the evil eye.

Not every single one of them agrees with strapping kids with bombs and giving them an AK 47 to play with. That is just the false perception people have. They think "oh boy, a Muslim. I'll bet he knows how to make a bomb." I think it's pretty sad that people generalize an entire group of people like that.

Terrorism happens everywhere, everyday and by all races. Muslims, too, are victims of terrorism on a daily basis. We get it once in a while but think about those people who have to live with it 24/7. They go out to have a nice lunch with family and the next thing they know, some random douchebag runs in with a bomb and blows everyone up.

I don't think he said it with intentions of all of us crying fake tears for him because of his religion. I just think that he really is very proud of who he is, knowing fully that a large majority of people spit on his religion based on some random assholes.

and im pretty sure that there was christianity before 300 years after his death but they were just called "followers or the way" or "followers of jesus" or something like that. i think around 300 years after jesus's death was when christianity became legal and it began to grow extremely fast throughout the roman empire cause constintine made it legal...

Christianity at that point was mostly praising him as a wise man, but some said he was the son of God. When the Roman Emperer Constantine was on his death bed, he was afraid that he was wrong and that Christianity was right, so he proclaimed Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. The only written accounts of Jesus' life that weren't destroyed (or hidden), portrayed him in a divine light.

they didnt think he was a wise man. all christians thought he was the son of god. just some people said he was completely divine (not human) and some said he was completely human but he was still the son of god. and i think constintine made it the official religion before his death bed but he converted to christianity on his death bed.

EDIT: i just had a class on this last year...

I don't really believe in any religio, but I guess I don't completely shut it down.
Basically, the fact of believing whther there is a god or not, I don't care about. There could be, there might not be, but there's no way I will know as of now, so I don't believe or disbelieve. I just choose to leave religion out of my life.
But the thing that really turns me off of religion is when people cann't keep it to themselves. What I mean is the people who believe something, and try to get ME to live by it too. Fuck off. They can live however they want, but don't try to make me be some crazy religious crusader as well.

I judy eoulf like to point something out on the statement you made "Son of God" I would like to say that it was mis understood by people around that era of time- Jesus was jewish and you guys believe that and when jesus says he is the son of god it is a jewish saying that we are all equal and we are all gods creations no one is better then something else- we are all in this together not him specifically is the son of god he meant we all are.

Great commandment.

You confusing religion with the Church, there is a difference. The Religion side of Love Thy Neighbour is true. In the Bible Jesus invited sinners to sit with him. To share and fellowship. But always to be warrned not to fall into there sinful ways. However this has been confused and turned into fear, and religious leaders encourage there churches to fear sin. When instead they should be encouraging them to stand strong in the face of temptation. Its the people (not all, but the ones that always make the news) that contradict that tennet. I myself being a Christian, have a gay brother, and 1 or 2 gay friends. I do not fear them, nor do I rebuke them and cast hate towards them. I treat them no differently then I did before I knew they were gay. Why because I do believe in the Love Thy Neighbour. When peep created the Member Hate Thread, if you look you'll see I made a point of posting, I hate no one. Despite Monkeystyle's completely opposite views on faith as mine, I still respect him, and treat him no differently then if he was any other person or any other religion.

And finally the last confution for most christians that say that being gay is sinful, there is one thing they all need to remember....no where in the Bible does it say Homosexuality is a sin. It does say sexual perversion is a sin. But for all we know sexual perversion could be as basic as Oral Sex, or S&M or some other sexual fetish still done between a man and a woman, and if thats the case a good portion of us are going to hell. Basically when Homosexuality became increasingly more acceptable in the world, the chuches decided that Homosexuality was included in Sexual Perversion. They may be right, they may be wrong, the point is it doesn't change that they should be treated with the same love and respect you expect from others.

I was once agnostic as I heard all these things in the outside world yet I could not bring myself to believe to in one thing so I decided to become Agnostic. Then my opinions matured hence why I am atheist.

I believe in just being a nice person is the correct thing.

^ Have you ever stopped to think, perhaps the stories have been embellished and everything can be corrupted or twisted to satisfy one's own beliefs? You do realize King James and those around him, and maybe before within the Roman church, they wanted to justify or validate their stances? It's happened many times; humans can and will lie to get their way. A 2000 year old story can be changed in centuries; you need look no further than the Western world's greatest epics; monks changed many of them to fit in the Christian ideas of their age...

I find it silly that people think dinosaurs never existed just because they weren't in the bible.

Okay so the computer you have wasn't in the bible so does it also not exist?
