PG Era Considered To Be Done In WWE, Note On Plans For Content Going Forward

WWE has been opting for more risqué language in recent weeks with The Rock and Paul Heyman in particular dropping f-bombs. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the PG era is believed to be done in the company, although no official decision has been made. This doesn’t mean the TV shows will be changing, but it has been discussed.

Whatever decision gets made will be done by the end of the year when RAW goes to Netflix and NXT goes to the CW. What content will air will depend on what those broadcast partners want and what sponsors are comfortable with. However, there are also no concerted efforts to keep things PG as there have been in the past. A memo had been sent about it several weeks ago, but that is not believed to be a huge priority.

While I definitely don’t think it’s an important topic, I can definitely see Raw being a little more adult friendly once it heads to Netflix.

Nothing like the Attitude Era but I expect certain guys to continue to get more leeway

If you're consciously trying to be any rating, whether kid friendly for PG or purposely edgy for TV-14, it's probably gonna suck lol

What they should and what I think they will do is just be realistic, natural people which results in non PG interactions

One of the most glaring points of your first statement is Roman Reigns’ “suffering succotash” because who would ever say that in an actual conversation.

But now we see things with The Rock, Cody, Bloodline, etc where like you mentioned, conversations come off more authentic.

Now you don’t need to say Fuck or Shit every sentence, but there definitely is a way to make it feel real.

They should at least make the rating PG-13, that way you can still push the boundaries of what you can and cant say without pissing off the sponsors.

The worst was way before that Reigns promo I think too lol when they first went PG and everyone acted like it was the worst thing ever...that was cause they were basically doing G rated content then lmao the only thing making it PG was poop jokes

Idk if Netflix is any different but their options are TV PG or TV14 from what I understand. Which is basically PG13 tho

I was surprised how much Heyman swore during his speech. I don't mind a slight return to the edgier shows with language. Kids these days already know that stuff.

That will never not be funny to me, I’m sorry. I don’t know what that says about me though lol.
