Mickie James has a new wrestling home: Ohio Valley Wrestling.

First reported by Fightful on Thursday, the five-time WWE Women's Champion and five-time Impact/TNA Knockouts Champion will become OVW's creative director, head of female talent, and executive producer for all of the company's shows.

OVW, the former developmental territory for WWE from 2000-2008, rose to some prominence in 2023 when the Netflix docuseries "Wrestlers" on both the company's history and a look at their current behind-the-scenes situation debuted. It has not been announced whether it will return for a second season. They also have a weekly live TV show in addition to pay-per-views.

Last November, it was reported that James was taking a break from Impact/TNA while remaining on good terms with her longtime home. The 44-year-old hasn't wrestled since failing to defeat Trinity for the Knockouts title at last October's Bound for Glory.

Neither the organization, nor James, has publicly confirmed or announced the news as of this writing.

Not sure if OVW still produces future stars, but good for her.

Maybe in her position, she can resume a relationship with TNA.

Not yet, but give them some time.
The reason why I asked is because the last time I checked out OVW it was rough, if I’m gonna be honest.

Which is why for a while I don’t think they were producing anybody major. So I’m just hoping that Mickey is able to whip them up into shape down there.

OVW has gotten better. I have been watching them for quite some time, and they are getting better and finally getting themselves together. And even if they never produce any who goes to AEW or WWE or TNA doesn't mean they, OVW or the wrestler, aren't a success.

Good for her. She’s been almost everywhere at this point and with as long as she’s been in the business, I’m sure she’ll have a lot of insight to provide

I don’t think they need to have like a 50% success rate, but I would say that if they can’t produce one person who can make it on a television I would say that’s not a success in my personal opinion.

Good to hear that it’s gotten better and now with Mickey on board they should be shaping up.

I'll agree to disagree because personally I don't think being on TV is the end of all be all.

Yeah, I think she will really him them out and boost them up. Because the women's division is good, but could be better.

If this was 15 years with less options, I’d agree, but with three television products it’s easier than ever to land one of the major companies. I love TNA, but you seen their roster? If you got any talent as far working in the ring and connecting with the audience, you should be able to land a deal there.

Shit, AEW has like 200 wrestlers working there and with ROH, they’re debuting new indie talents every week. Should easily be able to land an ROH taping.

We’re also talking about how many students that pass through over a 3-year period? My bar is pretty low. Just produce one. If you can’t get one talent over enough to land one of three televised products, you’re doing something wrong.

Look at the old OVW or DSW or FCW. Their success rate of making stars were huge.

I’m sure some of the ovw wrestlers can make a decent living just working the indies, but my original post was asking about making stars, specifically.
