1) Vince doesn't own PPV. No one pays him money to have PPV's

2) When the WWE used to host there PPV's online it cost $16 to buy. So it was about half the price of buying them on regular PPV.

3) TNA, WWE and most PPV's are Live where available. The only PPV's that weren't most of the time were the Pride FC but they got bought by UFC so who cares. lol

4) Most likely if this was ever to happen it would happen when TV & Internet became more integrated anyways. Meaning most likely you'd still be able to stream it over to your big screen tv and watching in crystal clear high def.

5) Ultimately this isn't happening anytime soon even if it is true as revenue would drop if they changed it now since the PPV's would have to be even more expensive then they are now on regular PPV to be able to create the amount of bandwidth they would need for everyone to watch it, otherwise it would be choppy as all hell and no one would order one again out of frustration which is why TNA doing it would be a bad idea. There Youtube shows may be popular, but not everyone is watching it at once.

Think about it this way. A lot of you watch streams. (so your already watching it on a computer anyways and part of the reason why the PPV industry is dying) but how many of you bitch and complain about the signal cutting out or it freezing or losing sound or whatever? Thats what would happen if the WWE did it or anyone else. The only way to avoid it is to sink more money into the bandwidth which you would have to pay more for and most of you were too cheap to buy the PPV's when they were $30, even less of you pay the $40-$50 now. I could imagine it being even worse if the WWE put it online at least in the here and now.

Regarding the PPV issue....

I actually created a thread a few years ago about showing Wrestlemania on Network TV.

Right now, only the hardcore fans really watch wrestling PPV's. A few more than that watch Mania.

Right now, only a little over 1 million people pay to watch Mania.

By showing Mania on free TV, you can attract a broader audience who will potentially take an interest in what the WWE offers and may become loyal fans.

This will:

a. Increase live event sales
b. Increase Merch sales
c. Increase rating which will in turn bring in more advertising revenue
d. Help to make bigger mainstream stars whcih can;t hurt some of the other projects Vince works on.

Now I know they lose out on big PPV dollars. But they increase their earnings in other area's, not to mention selling ad time during Wrestlemania.

This could work for all the big four PPV's. The others can be shown via webcasts I guess, no one really watches them any way and the people who do usully just watch the free feeds.

^^^ I like the idea, but I would use another PPV. You mentioned that it could work with any of the big four PPV's, which is why I would put either Survivor Series or Summerslam on network TV. Wrestlemania and the Royal Rumble are the highest-selling PPV's of the big four, so I would keep those two as PPV's.

Survivor Series (moreso than Summerslam) is pretty much made for TV. The five-on-five matches can do a good job of showcasing a lot of the talent to a new public, while at the same time it highlights (And keeps the fans up to date) with the current feuds.

Sounds like a workable idea, but from a punter's point of view I really don't wanna see adverts in a live 'PPV'... It'b be fuckin' horrible (Raw & SD are bad enough!).

...Rest of ya post makes me feel like a mug tho'! LOL

I currently pay for all my PPVs* (when necessary - we get a handfull free each year in the UK)...

(*Mainly to see them as they happen, but also for big screen & broadcast quality reasons tho').

As long as they remain advert free then I'm more than happy to continue paying for them. They cost the equivalent of $30 here which is the equaivalent price of a couple of cinema tickets... I don't think they work out to be that bad value.

that would be stupid. how are a group of people going to go over to one house and watch it comfortably. tv screens are far bigger than computers and will be less comfortable watching them on. the WWE will lose my buys for WM, RR, and SS's

Okay to set everyone straight on the Vince McMahon being a billionaire shit...Vinnie Mac is NOT a billionaire at the moment. He WAS at one point, when he had an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion dollars, but not anymore..forbes.com has reported that he is worth some where around 700-800 million dollars which is still a shit load of money.

On the PPV subject:

Maybe if the Fed lowered their prices and got rid of useless events (see: One Night Stand, Cyber Sunday) people would actually spend money to watch said shows. Also booking the same matches over and over and over again doesn't help buyrates either.
