I feel like this is the big move for Impact. I don't know how much WWE or AEW pursued Nick Aldis, but he was rumored to be leaving the NWA for one of the bigger companies ahead of the Rumble. Those die off after he stays away, then he shows up in Impact.

Especially with the unfortunate timing of Josh Alexander getting hurt, Nick Aldis comes in as a legitimate star and the biggest name in the building. He can immediately contend for the Impact World Title if he wants.
