Damn Pitching Ninja got me down a rabbit hole. started here and one of the replies was a Youtube of Vin Scully calling a Mariano Rivera save.
I miss that man pitching. That was the closest we'll ever see to perfection.
I ended up having to do something else before it ended. Wow. Just. Wow. catcher wasn’t even ready but the batter gets called. Dumb dumb dumb
It’s no way the pitch would’ve got off in time anyway where the catcher was. Still would’ve thought that was dumb to win the game that way also. I don’t know, I think it’s going to take me time to get use to it. But the catcher shouldn’t be able to not be set like that and get the batter out. Just my opinion.Batter should have known better he wasn't ready for the pitch with 8 seconds left.
And it's some dude no one's heard of who is probably a minor leaguer, which means he's been dealing with this for at least a season.
meh the catcher not being ready is a debatable topic. But the rules say the batter has to be ready looking at the pitcher with 8 seconds left which he wasn't.It’s no way the pitch would’ve got off in time anyway where the catcher was. I wasn’t saying anything about it being called different at different points. Just I hate a game to end that way no matter how it goes. The good thing is in the season it wouldn’t end there because of a tie. I mainly just think that the catcher should have to be ready also. Because even if the batter was ready, if the catcher is standing up, we still don’t get a pitch.meh the catcher not being ready is a debatable topic. And they absolutely MUST call the rules in virtually every instance, regardless of when it is. You can't play by different rules because the game is almost over. Only way to get the rules into the heads of the players is to call the violations 100% of the time regardless.
To be fair the pitcher can still pitch without the catcher in his stance. But you're right about the catcher and I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually tweak the rules. But I do love the game ending like that because it really forces players to get used to the rules. Plus, we want them to fuck up now so they don't fuck up when the games matter.I wasn’t saying anything about it being called different at different points. Faster is important but the real important thing is less boring.True, but it wouldn’t be smart
I also didn’t care about how long the games were either. SoI personally don’t care about “faster games.” But once im use to it, I probably will be fine with it. I just don’t think the clock is something that was needed. I’m sure on days the Braves play the same as say, a PPV I’ll be happy it ends fast but I truly never had a problem with how long a game took.
Yeah I personally was never bored myself I mean if I enjoyed it already maybe I’ll enjoy it more.Faster is important but the real important thing is less boring.
Baseball games were boring as fuck. More action means baseball will be less boring.
The shift ban anger has always confused me. Everyone loves football but their formation rules are so rigid they make no shifting look like freedom.Yeah I personally was never bored myself I mean if I enjoyed it already maybe I’ll enjoy it more.
rule I’m more mad about is the shift ban, even if I think it will help the Braves out since the shift hurt them a lot.
