Steve Austin didn't start getting really over until a few months into his Stone Cold gimmick, after the Austin 3:16 thing happened. It was his feud with Bret Hart that made him a main eventer, for a myriad of reasons. Austin was never getting over with a shit name like Otto Von Ruthless or Chilly McFreeze. Steve Austin said as much, Mick Foley said as much, and even Duke The Dumpster Droese thought as much.

Terry Taylor never got over despite being a good worker because the Red Rooster name and gimmick was shit (also because Taylor supposedly took it too literally as a chicken joke). Tony Atlas died a thousand deaths under the Saba Simba name. Fuck, even Doudrop was a terrible name. Names matter in wrestling. A terrible ring name is just as liable go ruin someone's credibility as them being a shit wrestler. Especially in a business that's half-branding and half-athletics.

He was getting cheered when he was beating up Savio Vega.

Alright I was gonna drop it but now you turn this around and act like it’s my fault? You come in here and start making ridiculous arguments that names don’t matter and then when everyone agrees with me and tells you you’re wrong you get pissy and tell me to shut the fuck up. You really have an importance complex

Look man, I like you, and I don’t think you need to necessarily shut the fuck up… but he may or may not have an importance complex. But you surely have a having to get the last word complex. Like, you didn’t have to reply to that. But you seem to always have to get the last word. Let the man bury himself.

LMAO I've ignored this thread because I'm like Theory getting his name not much to discuss. Oh it's 5 pages let me take a peak. Names make a difference for a multitude of reasons, so does the character, charisma, and ability. You saw several name changes during the attitude era that reflected that, they knew the names would make a difference so they were changed or tweaked. Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold. Just the blatantly obvious ones. Is Theory vs. Austin Theory that big a deal, probably not but having a name in front of Theory does sound better. Be it Austin, Tim, or Doug. It just makes more sense for a character that isn't some mythical entity to have a first and last name.

Sometimes man you just gotta take it and let them as I said bury themselves. If he goes on the attack and acts like he is, and everything and you ignore him, then it looks worse on him and then well its easier to deal with him and what to do. But if you keep also playing along, egging him on and everything, then it’s more a slippery slope. Basically debate with him, but once he starts getting out of him and going on the attack, bow out because it’s not worth it.
