Hannibal Lector's a fucking goof and nobody can convince me otherwise that he's a goober. He's only ever really good in Manhunter but that's because he isn't played by Anthony Hopkins to just goes big ham.

You mentionned Hopkins and Cox from Manhunter but not Mikkelsen, who did a terrific job and is definitely not a "goof"

Alright, to answer your question. I have seen. It's a fantastic series.

But it's also incredibly irrelevant when taking into account the fact this is a "Movie Villain" list. So yeah.

Fair enough but the way you phrased it seemed to imply there were only two different actors who played Lecter while there were actually four, including three in movies.

I personally just can't take Hannibal Lector seriously, especially after the sequel to Silence of the Lambs has him lobotomizing some dude and eating a piece of his brain.

It's hard to take him seriously once you flanderize the character into straight parody with the same actor.

I also generally just prefer the Manhunter version. He's less pretentious, more antagonistic, and pushes all of the main character's buttons by just being such an unlikable prick. He also seems like a guy who is in absolute control and knows just how much the main character is like him... to the point where he almost seems to be egging on the main character to become like him. To fall into that darkness.

Anthony Hopkins's "ate his liver with a side of chianti" speech really does nothing for me in comparison.

Its Hannibal easy for me. I agree that Hopkins is overrated in the role, but he's still effective in SOTL. The character as a whole is a great villain when given the chance. More people need to check out Cox in Manhunter. I will be checking out the TV series soon. I hear good things.
