It's been a while since someone truly came out of nowhere to deliver a surprising Royal Rumble win. It's usually telegraphed or one of a few top guys who truly have a chance to win, so is this the year when someone random pops up and gets a title shot at Wrestlemania? Whether that's a midcarder, returning star, or an NXT callup?

With the Undertaker, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar matches likely to take up the top 3 slots, they can give someone a big match for the Universal Title... Any chance this happens?

Think Goldberg wins tbqh...

Honestly though, if they did have him win, and Owens goes over? I'd be down.

Seth Rollins or Goldberg seem to have the biggest chance of winning

Tbf as of now theres a bunch of potential winners. Goldberg, lesnar, reigns, rollins, cena, Owens, styles, joe, Nakamura. That's what the brand split does.

It makes no booking, or historical sense to give Reigns another Rumble win.

And I reckon if AJ Styles retains at TLC, that he will probably be facing the John Cena at WrestleMania, without Cena needing a Rumble win. Same goes for Owens. I wouldn't be surprised if Jericho wins the Royal Rumble, to be honest, but I'm not sure.

I do agree with your post, that there's a lot of possibilities to really choose one, and be confident, will be hard.

It seems like the likely scenario is Undertaker winning the WWE Title in the undercard, and Cena wins the Rumble (lol). It sounds like an odd way to go, but it saves the Styles/Cena rematch for whenever they feel like it and - temporarily - avoids the inevitable 50/50 and Cena getting his win back. Styles still is the guy Cena can't beat. But getting his 16th title over Undertaker at Mania won't sit well with many fans...

Still if you don't do Taker/Cena there's no good match for the Deadman.

On-topic: It'll require a bit of a gimmick change, but what about Big E?

Makes little booking sense at this point, and I don't think WWE is willing to split the New Day up, since they move merchandise like nobodies mother. And New Day don't really work with a singles competitor dynamic. They all mesh together well, so Big E isn't a plausible choice.
