Tensai failed to impress WWE officials in his pinfall victory over John Cena on the April 16 Raw SuperShow in London, England and was deemed "a flop" as a result. He was initially pegged to face Cena at the company's Over The Limit and No Way Out pay-per-view events but his poor showing in the main event match led to his push being curtailed and Big Show taking his place. WWE also canceled plans for summer live events to be headlined by Tensai and John Laurinaitis vs. Cena, instead replacing the former tattoo artist with Big Show.

Though Tensai has yet to be defeated on television, he suffered his first pinfall loss before a WWE crowd in a dark match following Monday's Raw SuperShow—to Cena. He is being largely relegated to WWE Superstars while his character is retooled. He has already undergone tweaks as he appeared sans robe, competed more aggressively and had his named modified within the past two weeks. More changes could be in the works as there was talk this past week of additional modifications.

Looks like this Tensai character of his isn't working, he should have just came back as Albert imho.

He will be a tag guy just like he was after his single runs as Prince Albert, Albert, and ATrain failed. Hs just s tag guy without the talent or magnetism to solo

Just let the fake Jap part of his gimmick slide, the name doesn't matter.

This is what I mean when I say Jap wrestling is irrelevant, this guy was lauded as a wrestling god over there, yet is mediocre at best in the big leagues. He's fat, corny looking and botches a lot.

Personally I haven't minded him so far, I actually enjoy his in-ring style as it looks legit and feels properly smashmouth. The problem I have is though is that they haven't give me an actual reason to care about the guy yet, there's no been no promos from him or any sort of explanations as to why he is back and such. He squashed a bunch of jobbers, randomly beat Cena then ended up in a handicap tag against Cena & Sheamus, it's just been so random.

You look at Brodus for example, whether you like him or not he has something simple about him in the fact he's a big guy who likes dance and to entertain the people, it gives you an option to care or be interested in him. Ryback is closer to Tensai than he is Brodus, but he's got this whole brute strength thing going on where's hitting his finisher on two people at the same time and shouting feed me more. They haven't done anything with Tensai to make people care or react to him in a positive or negative way.

Give a totally new character a handful of squash matches and a promo, then have him pin Cena out of nowhere and not do anything with it... Then wonder why he generally hasn't been received well.

I mean, whether you like him or not, they haven't given Tensai much of a chance as Dale explained. So they're repackaging him already? Come the fuck on. Its not like WWE is going to get longevity out of Tensai's career, why not use the opportunity to really take a risk and see if we can get anything unique or interesting out of this strange, new character?

I dunno. In this day where any real gimmicks in WWE are rare in favor of cocky young heels with "real" names, a guy like Tensai running around is refreshing. But it just seems like WWE aren't interested in creating another Undertaker or Kane for the future.

He did have huge potential but they just gave up on him without trying anything. I guess they figured the fans were "too stupid" to understand so they were like... ahhh screw it we will make him a vampire.

This is pretty much why some of these pushes WWE tries fails because they throw them out there and say get over without giving them anything to work with to make people care. Beating Cena is great but doesn't mean a thing if you don't go anywhere with it or worked on what would get him over before he beat Cena out of the blue.

I thought Morecai got pulled off TV after he got in a bar fight and they got sued?

The fact is Kane and Taker are truly the last of their kind. The last of the supernatural, over the top, creature of myth and legend, Herculean, super powered, fabled Brothers of Destruction. It's a shame but fans don't accept characters like them no more, yet they always eat up whatever cheesy shit Kane and Taker pull hocus pocus wise like it is real and then shit on others for trying it lol.

The last mythical character to get over was Boogeyman but he was so limited in the ring because of his age

I don't understand what he has done wrong so far. I like the new gimmick and think that his push was going along well until WWE stopped using him after he beat Cena. His matches have been fine and he has put over the character as much as he could without any promos. It would have been better if they actually let him talk more to explain to fans why he changed from Albert to Tensai. I hope that they don't scrap this gimmick because it is one of the few new gimmicks that WWE have introduced in the last couple of years. Everyone else is generic with slight changes, this was something completely different.

In my honest opinion, I just think way too many people look at him and think, "Why is Albert all shaved and going by a different name?" Now, I understand the younger audience might not get it and know who Albert or A-Train was but the younger audience, regardless of what the WWE would have you believe, Is NOT their bread and butter. You can't count on the kiddos with the ADHD to remember that RAW comes on Mondays at 9/8c or sit there for 2 hours. I did when I was a child but I was A) Obsessed B)During the Attitude Era with Rock/Austin/Foley/Taker/DX and C) Obsessed. The older fans keeps the ratings afloat and they recognize shit being shoveled to them a mile away. That's why CM Punk's shoot promo made him a gigantic babyface is because he cut the crap. We see "Tensai" come out and it's like "That's fucking Albert!" and Albert was never engaging to begin with so slapping a half-ass Japanese gimmick on him doesn't do him any favors.

True Albert was never more than a midcard guy but wouldn't that be why they repackaged him? If WWE brought him back as Albert/A-Train then I would say that it is a pretty weak effort from them. At least they tried to rejuvenate him and create some intrigue surrounding his new persona.

I personally have been a big fan of Alberts return, that being said I haven't quite enjoyed him as Lord Tensai. I think his in ring work is great, it really embodies the Japanese style and I think if he dropped the manager and had a promo saying he is no longer Albert, and explaining what he learned in Japan and dropped the Lord and just went by Tensai his character could certainly have promise. I was really hoping they'd do more with him after his pinfall win over John Cena, which by the way I didn't find to be to bad of a match.

I really hope that they try their best to repackage him a little and keep him on the main card, Albert has the talent and the rugged stiff style to make it work and WWE is in desperate need of a new monster in the main event and I really think he's the perfect fit for that. I'm personally not holding my breath though because I've seen this countless times with guys in WWE, I just pray that they bring him back and don't drop him on Superstars.

Report smells like bs to me, especially since WWE gave Tensai a win over CM Punk too after that match with Cena. Surely if the match against Cena was so horrible in WWE's eyes, they wouldn't have turned around and gave him another win over the #2 babyface right after.

Also, him losing to Cena in a non televised match doesn't mean anything. WWE can still claim he is "undefeated" all they want. Owen Hart won the WWE championship in a non televised match and it's like it never happened. Same with the Rockers and the tag team championships. Doesn't matter.

Sounds like someone jumping to conclusions based on his recent inactivity on Raw and pushing it off as dirt sheet controversy. Tensai was never going to just walk into the WWE and start winning major titles left and right, regardless of what he did in Japan. The fact so many people thought he would never made sense to me.
